There are growing indications that P-5 conferences are getting ready to pull the plug on football and perhaps all fall sports. There are a number of emergency meetings scheduled over the next few days among school presidents and conference commissioners. While no conference wants to be the first, there are strong indications that either the BIG 10 or the Pac-12 will be the first to cancel fall sports.

Pressure has been building for a number of reasons including UConn’s decision to cancel football, the MAC’s decision to cancel all fall sports, the growing medical concerns of lasting health problems to athletes and increased pushback from athletes and parents over the risks and lack of uniform procedures.
