I never understood the dislike for Spurrier.

People used to get bent out of shape about teams "running up the score" and Spurrier was never shy about scoring points. Now, teams win by as many points as possible and throw the ball all of the time and the attitudes about "running it up" have changed. But back in the day he was thought of as a sort of bad guy for it.
