What attendance would constitute a good showing on Saturday?

For the record, Pitt reported 50k for a game against fellow NEC member Duquesne today.

Again, it isn't the opponent, weather, or day/time - UConn is never going to draw what other major college football programs do - it just isn't in Connecticut's DNA.
Spot on. We complain about the Labor Day weekend, but other teams are getting big turnouts during the same time. Coming off a successful season and a bowl win, there shouldn't be concern about attendance, but that is still an issue for us as we cleanse off the filth of prior years.

As for the production crew showing Joe Zone during gameplay, I was thinking, "why the frack do they keep putting Dean Wormer on?!!?"

Why would they so deliberately misrepresent that number?
Because that is standard practice in the industry? I have no problem with the puffed up, announced attendance, which leads to a puffed up average attendance figure. It's a way to make the team seem as if they have more appeal and virtually every other team does it so it creates an apples to apples comparison.

Being there, the attendance number looked pretty damn accurate to me. Keep in mind you do have people stand and watch the game near the score board too. I didn't see a single empty seat in the lower bowl area. I was in section 216, I like to sit up high to get a good view of the field and also have my space. The casuals left midway through the 3rd, given the holiday weekend and the score and really emptied out in the 4th.

Great to see the student section full, if it's true that the bus left early to bring the students back then that's unacceptable. It's not fair to the band who obviously has to be there until the end having them next to an empty student section is wrong.

All in all it was a good crowd, in the 2nd half the casuals started to lose their focus a little. Mora is no fool he didn't Edsall the 2nd half with the backups and 3rd stringers. Meaning he ran uptempo and didn't bore the crowd. Winning games and scoring pts is gonna draw the casuals.

The number may seem a little inflated but the showing was better most were expecting. I don’t think we can assume UConn’s numbers are inflated and others are legit.

Exactly. We should’ve started exaggerating numbers years ago. Even in the lean years when we got 15k or so I was always puzzled why we wouldn’t just announce 20 or 25. No one is calling you out on it and attendance has always been something outsiders rag on UConn for.

Crowd size was great. normally I show up 2 hours before kick, have. a couple drinks and a sandwich in the lots and head in. I am normally in one of the blue lots next to the stadium and probably 12-15 rows back. Never near the fence line. I showed up normal time today and had to park in one of the blue lots on the opposite side of the road closer towards the traffic light side of things. Was pleasantly surprised. People showed up and were having fun.

Totally agree with your attendance assessment. Many fans watch the game standing to get out of the sun etc. And seeing not only seeing student section full but the section above the student section full is telling. Have not seen that in a long time. The only open seats were in the upper corners and then the blue seats across the way had empty seats.

Our assessment in my group was 36k. Was similar crowd to NC State. Not understanding those who say it was near 30.

Based on this performance (most team
Offensive yards in the FBS era) and dominant performance, I don’t see any reason why we don’t build on this 35k number.

Pretty sure that the first available buses heading back to campus start @ the end of the third quarter w/ the remainder leaving up up to 30 minutes after the end of the game.

I mean Storrs Central. UConn said tickets distributed and they chose to embellish.

I guess in this era where facts and truth don’t matter we might as well make it all up.

The pricing model was never right. Big Lew screwed the pooch from the start.
How so? I always think of Hathaway as being the guy who totally killed the incredible momentum we were having at least on the basketball site, both men and women. I'm not saying you're wrong, I just don't remember it.
