By that, I mean as fans, what are we missing in what we are watching? It's not rocket science. A bunch of armchair QB's can look at how we are playing and see literally many areas where we are deficient and need improvement.

So these coaches are supposed to be the "pros" (so to speak) and much smarter than us since they actually have the jobs as the coaches. Yet what we see is, in a way, a hot mess. Is it recruiting still? Players who can't execute? Or just uninspired coaching? Or a combo of all of it?

I get that it's the first game but this is the start of HCBD's 3rd season and most of the kids on the team are his now, so the product he puts out there really is all his responsibility. This was supposed to be the season where we made a "big leap". Eeking out a win over Maine does not fill anyone with confidence. So what am I missing here (serious question - not trolling)?

I really do want to be excited about this team and the direction they are going in, but... not so much yet...

Hot mess sums it up pretty well. Let's hope it was opening day jitters, even with 18 returning starters on O and D.

First game jitters against ME? A coach can't let that happen especially against the easy win opponent. But Diaco did. Again. Stony Brook, Nova and Maine. 3 games that should have been easy wins are nail biters instead.

I think the kids and the staff believed this game was an easy W. Next 4 games are way more important so we will run vanilla O and D and all you backups get ready to play. Instead of telling them that this ME's biggest game of the year, they are looking to make headlines and it will not happen because we are going to execute from the first play until we have won.

Not sure BD knows how to get it done.

An offensive line, a QB that can air the ball and better coaching in the absence of the OL and QB.
