Very nice. Love the pics. I'm sure the BYers will be picking through it for any misstatement, but overall it's a nice overview of all the things going on for women's basketball in the 1995 and 1996 period.

When I saw this my first thought was..."oh h-e-double-hockey-sticks, what did we do now?":) Those were some good times in WBB. Even tho we lost, the excitement and intensity of that game on both sides was amazing.

“I realized I wasn’t really paying attention to the road,” she recalled, laughing. “And I thought, ‘I’m going to get into an accident.’ And wouldn’t that be some headline: ‘Rebecca Lobo is killed in a car accident while forcing her children to watch the 1995 national championship game — in a minivan.'”

She is hilarious.

Good article.

Great article! If you enjoyed that, you should read Jeff Goldberg's new book for more of the same, to keep your juices flowing in the lull before the NCAAs.

And, as is always the rule with articles everywhere on the Web, don't read the comments.

I read the article and my first thought was that this guy must have read Goldberg's book.

I really enjoyed this article. One thing that stood out for me is Coach Summitt's stateman-like reaction to her loss at Gampel. I am coming to the conclusion that what happened that caused the rift between her and Geno was largely influenced by her illness.

How much do we know about Geno's opinion of this conclusion?

Greatest article written by anyone, ever, under any set of journalistic circumstances. Obviously.

I've no idea.

But I want to expand on/clarify my previous statement. In light of Summitt's illness, I am willing to speculate that her part in the rift was influenced by her illness, and for that reason, I am willing to cut her slack.

That being said, this in no way excuses the actions of the University and the SEC in their failure to stop the madness once it was clear that Geno and UConn were not guilty of the charges they brought against him/us, nor their failure to apologize.

Likewise, there is no excuse for the continuous bashing on the Summitt board.
