I really hope that a trend settles in where a bunch of guys decide that staying put is in their best interest, but if, like some claim, it is the end of the 3-4 year guys, how are you gonna justify retiring a jersey?

Its gonna look weird to have a jersey of a one year guy, who also played for 3 other schools every other year, hanging in your gym.

I’d be surprised if they were to ever retire the jersey of a one year player. That honor is more for distinguished careers. Cam was a fan favorite and key member/leader of a chip team, and I highly doubt his jersey will be retired

We don't have that issue yet. But to get to the huskies of honor for a 1 year player you would need to be on the level of 1st team all american.

I don’t think any one year guys are getting their jerseys retired at UConn.

Maybe an exception for the rare instance of someone like Steph Castle who could potentially go on to have a massive Hall of Fame career (again, potentially).
True. We are lucky to be one of the high profile programs who seem to retain our key pieces. But this isnt just about UConn, I'm wondering what will happen to gyms across the country. Does the honor just die in 2026?

That will never happen under Hurley in the current state.

I'd agree that if Castle, who won a title, goes on to become an NBA all pro, he deserves it. We need to market our NBA stars.

.-.
Are we talking about Jersey retirement or Huskies of Honor? Because those are two very different conversations.
