What a Joke

Let's compare UConn's bowl game notes approach to ..... Toledo's, shall we? If this was a CFP game I could see the need for secrecy but not knowing who the darn QB is going to be is bad form.
BTW Our Rockets are hanging in there with those $#$^## from Louisville. Down 7-3 after getting to UL goal line before penalty and a missed FG.
Watched a bit of that game, and was impressed by Toledo’s comeback. Nice to see they don’t quit.

I was listening to the basketball game the other night and a very strange exchange by Crispino and Norman I think. One of them said that all the UConn players would be suiting up and that Army would be ready. I was like, wtf? I doubt that is the case and I have no idea why they would say something like that, unless they truly don't know about opt outs. Then he commented how it is different than last year where UConn won handily against a decimated UNC squad. Anyone else catch that?

I mean it’s Crispino… who knows.

Let's hope this version the Huskies go out with a bang for its last hoorah. Regime change has happened. Once Saturday's game ends it'll almost be like this 9-3 season didn't happen. A new season is upon us folks. Get ready for the culture shock that's about to happen....It'll be glass half full based though, of course.

We’re a program in transition. I certainly don’t expect much at the moment. Just the circumstances we find ourselves in.

I guess people can expect things in return for their contributions to the program - it’s your money and that’s your right. I just want to help the team improve.

I would also temper expectations going forward. Mora was a bit of a media darling. Candle seems more focused on football.

Given the new world college football is in, every program will be in annual transition. Look at Penn State and Michigan - coaches gone, fans and donors in an uproar. Chaos. But with chaos there is also opportunity. Look at Indiana. Look at us - obviously at a much lower level than the top of the Big10 but given the new world we can springboard up to 9 or 10 wins easier than we could've 5 or 10 years ago. Spend NIL/revenue share wisely by getting a good QB, an OL, and a few skill guys and you can compete. Candle's focus on ball is a potential added catalyst. Bring on the change!

For those worried about the OL at the Fenway Bowl, I wanted to provide the PFF grades. I think UConn will be OK with the two opt outs, but the depth has taken a big hit. Here are the PFF blocking grades for the 10 OL who played the most in 2025:

Pass Blocking:
McLaughlin 79.1 (30 snaps)
Hoeh 74.4 (812 snaps)
Walker 74.0 (39 snaps)
Chan 70.4 (426 snaps)
Jeurgens 67.7 (773 snaps)
Johnson 66.2 (71 snaps)
Casady 60.9 (774 snaps)
Murawski 53.8 (773 snaps)
Green 44.9 (64 snaps)
Wayburn 40.1 (430 snaps)

Run Blocking:
Murawski. 86.3
Juergens. 85.4
Walker. 83.6
Wayburn. 77.2
Casady. 75.2
Hoeh 74.4
Chan. 66.5
Johnson 62.7
McLaughlin. 61.4
Green 56.2

I got back to the game when Murawski got hurt and Johnson came in at LT. Never really noticed Joh son which is a good thing.

Didn’t Littlefinger say something like “I see chaos as a ladder”?

I’m not sure we truly know who the opt outs are

I am curious, have you ever watched NESCAC in any sport?
Williams v Amherst is special and worth watching though I would say the NESCAC is generally closer to HS football than the top of D3 competitive football.

UConn's media notes have been posted on UConnhuskies.com. Not only is there not a single mention about anyone not playing, or any uncertainty about who is playing -- for the first time I recall (and I follow religiously since we moved to the Rent), there is no two deep posted.

Honest to God, there is just not a reason to treat your followers as poorly as we have been treated this month. The team has been working out and plays a game in less than 100 hours. We must know who is telling us they are playing and who is telling us they are not.
You don't remember Edsall not releasing a two deep in 2019? There must be a nasty thread about that somewhere around here.

Trinity Bantams. Squash blue bloods.

Squash is actually way more fun than racquetball.

I think lack of information speaks to more about the game and its meaning more than anything. These are exhibitions at best, making it there and qualifying is the goal and the actually game is just a formality. That and athletics staff goes into shutdown mode between semesters are the reasons to me why the information or lack there of is so sparse and underwhelming

The staff is pretty much all going to be moving on. They are at a disadvantage because keep personnel will not be participating. They have zero motivation to communicate who will be playing and a good reason to remain silent in the hope of some competitive advantage.

A 10th win would have been huge. Never been done in our fbs history. It is part of the frustration over what this has become. If they want fans to care, the people inside the program have to show they care too. I agree that this is more a CFB problem than a UConn problem largely, but we're UConn fans so we care when it affects us.

Most of the offense is intact. Joe is out but it’s sounds like he is just trying to get back to 100% before the East West game week. I don’t have any hard feelings about that at all.

All of the coaches are still here except for Mora. Given everything we can’t really ask for much more for a dumb game against Army.

You can’t really say that nobody cared. In our case it’s seems to be quite the opposite.
