Yesterday at this time I was loading car for tailgating. Met our group at 7:15, where all of us were enthusiastic about the game and confident in a UConn victory. I headed to game thinking today was next step in getting us to a 6 or I even thought possibly a 7 win season.

This morning I am thinking there is a possibility we don't win another game. I am sure reality is somewhere in middle, but yesterday was a real downer.

I am a Diaco supporter. I think his attitude ( though sometimes over the top) is something we need. I actually enjoy his look on things , and I truly believe his players and recruits belive in him. Last year it seemed he made decisions that led you to believe he was not trying to win. This year it looks like he is over thinking everything. Seems like every time he should just take the points he goes for it, and when he should go for it he either punts or tries a long fg into the wind.

If he just followed the KISS ( keep it simple stupid) theory, we probably would have to more wins.

We are a young team with a young coach. I think we are definitely headed in right direction. Was just really hoping for a win yesterday . Lets go out and beat Cinci.

Diaco's showing guts on many 4th & shorts but not much smarts. Not sure how many times this year he's made questionable decisions in these situations, but it's a lot. We have too little margin for error to keep gambling and leaving points on the board.

The first drive on 4th & short I wanted a FG just to get points. The play before the half was completely inexcusable. Eight seconds and 1 timeout left. Either kick the FG right there, or run the ball to get a few more yards and call timeout, or take a quick shot at the end zone. It's not hard to not screw up that play for most FBS teams but we seem to always manage to find a way. And the 4th qtr down 21-13 on 4th & short he has Puyol try a 44yd FG against the wind (which hit the upright to add insult to injury).

I knew USF would be a tough game as they are an improved team, but the way yesterday went down was really depressing. Too many squandered opportunities and lack of adjustments (especially on D in 2nd half). It was a game we had high hopes for to get to bowl-eligibility and now that will be a major challenge.

The preseason consensus of the board seemed to be right around 4-5 wins on the season. Seems like we are still on that schedule. I don't think the USF game classifies as a WTF loss, it was a game we should have won and hurts our bowl chances for sure. But it's not a shocking setback to the program IMO. The rest of the schedule doesn't appear to have 3 wins on it but since the team has looked competitive, if they can maintain the progress, and figure out how put together four quarters they might be able to get a WTF win or three. We'll see.

A total downer yesterday. A win there and we have a great shot at 6 wins. ECU home and Tulane away were the games I ( and everyone else ) were targeting. And even if we slip[ped in one of those 2 games we had other 3 opportunities to pull an upset.

Now we have to win the ECU / Tulane games and pull an upset just to get to 6. Really hoping they fire on all cylinders next week and pull upset.

No problem with him being aggressive on 4th and short on the enemy side of the field. BIG problem when it's a half arsed QB sneak that is their go to play in 95% of those situations that anyone who has seen one of our games knew was coming.

Not only does the D know it's coming on 4th & short, but we simply don't have the OL to push the pile with any consistency.
