For the first big 6 OOC games (Maui, Baylor, Texas, Zags), what’s a good record for those 6 games?

Yes, I know depends on which game as you really don’t want to lose the first Maui and end up in the losers bracket.

My thoughts:

6-0 3Peat!!!!
5-1 Excellent
4-2 Okay, maybe call that par
3-3 Ugh
2-4 Panic
1-5 Doomed, Fire Hurley (I wouldn’t think that, but that will be the BY reaction)
0-6 BY breaks the Internet

If I had to bet I think we go 4-2.

At 4-2, traffic at this site will increase 10,000% as all the doom and gloomers return to tell us how right they were about our basketball future

.-.
That’s a sick schedule. All of those teams could 100% beat us. But we also don’t know how we look and they look. Re-visit after the bunnies.

How quickly do we gel? Talent is certainly there to be 6-0. I think there will be a lot of tinkering, experimenting, role defining going on. Could lead to a couple of losses. I'm saying 5-1.

Wow, we have mcneeley, better than Flagg without the hype. We are two deep at every position with serious players. Players that want NBA money. Best coaching staff by a mile. Besides big east reffing on the road and sometimes at home, what are we talking about? Gelling? We should win each game by double digits. Reffing matters though so not going undefeated I get it. I feel like some of you are scared of duke and Kansas. They are an annoyance at best.

We'll be favored in every game, so 5-1 means something went wrong. 4-2 wouldn't hurt us too badly rankings or seeding wise, but would be considered really bad and would make this site explode

That's how good we are :)

Imagine if the kid from Michigan is a stud. Just wrong place wrong time there, Juwan Howard nonsense. He’s taller sanogo. I mean who could possibly deal with us? Hurley wanted him so something must be right with him. 4-2 is an insult.

.-.
Worse case scenario 3-3. But they could go 3-3 in those six and still have a great season. Sure that would cause major BY meltdown. But this team may need a little adversity before they truly buy in. Plus, the coaches will also need some time to figure out what the individual pieces can do when the bullets are flying.

As long as they are making progress, that's the main thing. It will be tough to win Maui. Not only because of the teams, because of the back-to-back games. It would be nice but ultimately it's unimportant.

Those are some serious Flag Blue (or anti-Flagg Blue, as the case may be) glasses you are wearing. You do realize that young Mr. Flagg just went toe to toe with our Olympic team, all NBA stars and was universally singled out for his stellar play and being better than most of them realized, yes? I could share a dozen links or more showing the comments and articles, but I am feeling lazy this Saturday morning, so here is a link to Google. You can do it for yourself:

I do think Liam McNeeley will be really, really good, and can not wait to see how he fits in to this year's team and then grows throughout the year, ala Stephon Castle this last year... but Flagg has pretty much proven he is a once in every 3 to 5 year talent. There is hyperbole, and then there is delusional. "Better than Flagg without the hype"? Sorry, No.

And win every one of these "Big 6" games by double digits, including all 3 in Maui? Let's see how things come together. Lots of moving parts to bring together and mold into what we will be by February and March.

Here's hoping you are right though!

I’m not a betting man but my honest prediction is 6-0. It seems at least as likely as anything at this point.

The track record the past two seasons for out of conference games, including those against the highest level competition is pretty damn good. Hell, even betting the spread, UConn has been a machine covering the points.

UConn COULD lose to 4 different Maui teams (UNC, Iowa st, Auburn, and Mich St), at Texas, Zags, or Baylor.

Torvik has all of those teams in top 17 and 5 in top 11.

Will they? Not sure, this UConn team is pretty hard to predict at this moment.
That’s kind of my feeling. We could go 6-0, but at the same time none of those would be bad losses per se.

A few bad breaks or an injury god forbid and 2-4 or 3-3 isn’t an insane outcome. Neither would 6-0 with our talent though.

I’ll be happy if we win our first game in Maui (hopefully against MSU) but not a big deal if we lose two games in a neutral floor to any of ISU/UNC/Auburn. The Baylor and Zags games are at home so we should be favored. Should beat Texas away. So I’ll say 4-2

Six OOC games = six double digit wins

We're not IN Kansas anymore (dontchaknow)

Debbie Downers have to stay on the sidelines

3-3 would be a little concerning because it probably means a few guys didn’t make the jumps we’re expecting. 4-2 is fine. I think 5-1 is ideal because it gives Hurley a little something to ride them about. 6-0 risks the hype train getting completely out of control and peaking too early.

It’s definitely possible UConn goes 2-1 in Maui and loses on the road in Texas. 4-2 in those games would be nothing to worry about. Anything worse we will probably feel like we missed some opportunities by the end of the season.

But I’ll be in Maui and I have a lot of questions about Texas, so I’m expecting a perfect non-conference slate.

Integrating the new players, getting them comfortable in their roles could see some less than great games, and that’s even with all of the studs we have. We gonna give Hurley some rope?
Our coaching staff knows the big picture is in March and April.

This all seems fair considering how variable and how unpredictable early season games can go.

I know your Hurley reference is a joke, but he and the staff has earned the iciest cold seats in the nation. Hope they stick around for 20 more years.

How did you get tickets to Maui? And are you going to view all the games or just the UConn games. I went to Maui in 2000 for the 2000-2001 season, but my dad was a season ticket holder and he did all the work of getting the tickets.

That scenario is more predictable than the hypothetical outcome for this team.

Predictable no matter what multiverse one hops to.

Bought them through the tournament (as well as hotel) back in March when they went on sale. Got all session tickets, but could have opted for just UConn tickets if we wanted. The price difference was very small to get the all session, the big difference is the UConn only would be behind their bench vs all session which are apparently behind the hoop.

We live in Tennessee and don’t have season tickets so not sure what options UConn has for ticket holders to buy direct from the university.
