At the Beginning of this season many of us believed UConn was destined to make the FF and a NC. Then the bottom fell out. Injuries Covid and transfers kept UConn from being able to build a competitive team. Everytime somebody seemed to get better somebody else was out of the lineup. We're still not a 100% and the NCAA are 2 weeks away. This is Geno's Greatest accomplishment To take a team that could barely put a lineup on the floor with mixing and matching and at one point having to play a zone just to keep players from getting into foul trouble because we were playing only 6 to where we are today well thats quite an accomplishment. BTW those 6 players were playing almost defenseless which resulted in a few losses. We learned alot as did the coaching staff. Most importantly we learned how to win and learned how to win without some of our key players. One thing we did learn is we have alot more key players now then we did. Those who deferred and depended on the key players to bail us out are now key players themselves

A few things that have happened because of all we've been through. We've learned we dont have to depend on Paige, we've learned we can depend on ourselves because now we are all key players. We've learned to trust Genos team concept and it shows in our execution. We''ve also developed into a team with no "I" in it. We have 9 players we can depend on and not 6. All that we've been through has allowed players who may not have gotten the playtime they did to develop and now can be counted on without any worries. Those same players have become dependable when we need them. We now have 9 players who we can depend on, who play significant minutes and who execute on both sides of the ball with efficiency. They have learned to play together as a team and execute with confidence. The depth and balance we have has given us the ability to plug players in and not loose a beat. The depth and balance has also taken away some of the fear of foul trouble. We've done this without Paige.

The seniors have stepped up big time. This season has been a learning experience in many ways. It has allowed everyone to contribute and develop. It has brought most importantly confidence and fight energy and intensity to the team. A team that at one point suffering from injuries and covid and learning how to just get by game by game has turned into a tuff, resilient, opponent.

Over the past few games different players have stepped up at different points in the game. The chemistry continuity, and execution especially the weak side help has resembled the ole UConn teams. How good is UConn. We are scary good. We have overcome so much this season which I believe has made us stronger mentally and given us the confidence to believe in ourselves to over come anything that we will face. The ole adage Refuse to Loose comes to mind.

We now wait for selection Sunday to see where we end up and who we play. I dont think UConn has anything to fear however whoever is in their bracket does.
