the way things have been going around here, Kiffin could be our coach in about 25 years

he's not old enough yet

When FHCRE left for the Twerps, I was among those who advocated for Mike Leach as his replacement. Winner-Exciting Offensive Schemes-Great Recruiter. The majority said to shy away from Leach as he was still too toxic with the way things ended at Texas Tech with Craig James's son. I'd love to have that Three Mile Island experiment in Storrs compared to the status quo.

Mack Brown's first 155 games at Texas: 128-27.
Last 40: 23-17.

It would be great if we can scoop a coach like him up if Texas canned him, but I just can't figure out the disparity between the present part of his career vs earlier days. He doesn't have Vince Young or Colt McCoy anymore, but they bring in top talent like nobody's business.

USC fans booed? USC fans chanted "Fire Kiffin"? USC fans left the game early? While booing? And chanting "Fire Kiffin"? I thought fan bases weren't allowed to voice their displeasure. After reading this, I think UCONN fans really need to step up our "Fire Pasqualoni" game, not stifle it.

More of a "who cares?" name, but watching Wake at BC it looked like the warranty has expired on Jim Grobe.

Take Mack Brown out of Texas & watch the W-L percentage drop. Put him north of the Mason-Dixon & the Long Horn state recruiting pipeline dries up.

WHAT? Mack Brown would make Pasqualoni look like Knute Rockne.

I got excited when Hawaii was tied with Oregon State at halftime. I think Mike Riley is one of the best coaches in college football, but he had back to back losing seasons before last year, and opening up with losses to Eastern Washington and Hawaii would put any coach on the hot seat. Alas, he won and will likely win 5 or 6 in the Pac 12 again this year.

Grobe is the kind of coach we want, but is a little old. We don't want a coach who will jump again. Tuberville is going to be at Cincinnati for the rest of his career. THAT is the kind of coach we want. A marquee guy that has just kind of worn out at his last gig but has fire in the belly and knows what he is doing.

I think the worst part is that we really do need a guy "with a fire in his belly who knows what he's doing."

You'd think that wouldn't be a job requirement to be an NCAA head coach, but here we are. It's pretty amazing.

"Fire PP" is fair game. But as another article pointed out, booing has a negative effect on the players. Plus, it's LA. You think our fan base is clueless about FB? There's a reason the NFL hasn't returned.

Related; We're #4! We're #4! In the Misery Index!

4. UConn: The Huskies didn't play this week, which may actually be good for the team coming off a 33-18 loss to Towson in the opener. But for fans, that's two weeks to stew over UConn's lot in life and dread what's coming next Saturday when their old coach, Randy Edsall, brings Maryland into East Hartford. That's a whole lot of negative rolled into the first week of September.

The next program that hires Mack Brown is just putting their money into his retirement account.

I had a feeling someone would call me on a bromance on Doyel. Not a fan but sometime he hits the nail on the head. Go to orangebloods.com. That football board looks a lot like this one

They'll be noise but you won't have a miracle on Monday.

Everyone that loses wants their coach(s) fired... It's not a revelation. We'd be happy to be where UT is over the years.

I wouldnt be minimizing the impact of that Texas loss on their fanbase, medic. Yet another 'it's not just one loss' case Did you see some of the titles of the threads -- '"Can we forfeit the Oklahoma game?' Sort of the way Michigan is being viewed here. Not quite as bad at Towson but in the ballpark. UConn is never going to be Texas but Boise State East is a reasonable goal.

C'mon man... They are over dramatic anonymous fans posting on a fan board. There are just a lot more of them than we have here.

Instant Twitter Analysis: USC angrier but Texas Cares More

By mlewi2

Sunday, September 8th, 2013

When teams lose fans get angry and coaches get fired. Twitter now allows us to get an instant picture of fan anger. Over the first week and day of the college football season, two coaches have emerged as mostly likely to be run out of town. According to Topsy, Mack Brown has been the subject of the most negative tweets (2,550) but Lane Kiffen has the highest rate of negative to positive tweets (2 times as many negative as positive tweets).

USC fans are angrier but Texas fans are more involved.

Besides engaging me, medic is it your position that everyone should just back off on PP and see how the season plays out?

There is a balance on a fan board between keeping the heat on and an unhealthy obsession with trying to get a point across.

I said in a thread mid-week that my belief is that if he starts the season 0-4, they should make the change as soon as he arrives back in Storrs from Buffalo and take the next bye week before USF comes to the Rent to stabilize things.

You're playing the unhealthy card? Really? 70-80 percent of the time I post I can expect an immediate reply from you. Doesn't bother me and I sort of enjoy the banter, but tossing out "unhealthy" is sort of a cheap shot. Only reason I'm on the board today is cause I have to be at the computer. Rather be listening to football outside than stuck inside.

I did not mention you specifically but...

It wasn't intended as a cheap shot - just a poke (and if you have health issues - i really apologize). You must have tripled your posts the past week. i used the term jihad in jest but hell, it's moved that way this week. Get some thicker skin. You bristle too much @ comments. It's like your deflection mechanism. ;)

But here - in a gesture of apology - I'll throw you this bone, run with it :)

Orangebloods.com has learned Greg Robinson, who ran Texas' defense in 2004 and was serving as a football analyst for UT, replaces Diaz

yeah, I tripled my posts (thanks for following). I'm pissed about another in a long string of unacceptable losses under an over-the-hill coach who should not have been brought back if not for the wonderful inner machinations of good-old-boy Connecticut politics (Larry McHugh, who told Herbst to give P another year, who told Warde, and somehow Larry has clean hands when it comes to the hire, the Burton fallout, and now keeping a failed coach). I do a decent job of finding breaking news on my own, so don't flatter yourself by "throwing me a bone". The Diaz firing should be its own thread because it's good guidance for Warde. Since you have appointed yourself the breaking news-meister here why don't you do the honor?
