With 26 seconds left down 6 and Boat dribbling up the court Ollie calls a timeout. I realize it probably wouldn't matter but I don't understand it, we needed a 3 and best chance at a 3 is when Boat has a full head of steam stepping into his shot.

No, he released the ball after his defender had started stepping out of his area after the timeout call. The team needed instruction on how to defend should they make a 3 in their next possession. In a future game, that could be very similar, then no To might be needed as the players are already schooled and experienced in that nuance of a late game. In that case, they may not have too take a time-out again and just keep attacking. Just saying.

Actually suoerjohn is correct not a good TO, strange but everyone is learning. That TO loses about 4-5 seconds of clock we need. You already are driving now you stop, set up and have to inbound from above the hash and will need 1 to 2 passes to get what you're looking for.....needed to Ryan to shoot it or take it to the rim and then call TO to have a chance.........

Disagree Mauconnfan, Theres no reason you shouldn't be able to call a timeout to design a play to get a quality 3 point shot and then have your defense set up right after. PacificStorm is right too, he made the shot after the whistle blew and the defender backed off. If he lets it play out and they scramble in some freestyle play and don't get a score there the game is over anyways. Now if he had a fastbreak 3 on 2 of some sort then its a different story. But the defense was back and set up so the TO was warranted.

I thought Ollie needed a timeout on the previous possession. The team brought the ball up down four, thety looked a little lost and didnt' really run anything and the possession ended with Napier taking and missing a three with about four on the shotclock. A made basket there might change the game. Instead, Pitt gets the rebound, goes down to score and is up six with under a minute. Then Ollie takes the timeout, but the game is basically over.

Disagree all you want and i could care less about the shot being made, not at all going by that. The defense may have been set up prior to the TO but it really was set up after the TO........took more time off the clock period and time was essential!!! So far the usage of TO's has not been good in most any game but that's the learning curve.
