Week of 2/19 Other Games

Creighton SJ game is being called completely different than how they called our game. Both teams, especially SJs is getting away with lots of contact that would have been called in our game.
We didn't get a lot of fouls caused against us. Just that one significant screening foul agains Donovan, his second. There were a few non contact fouls that the refs blew in the second half for both teams which helped us in closing the gap and hurt us at the end.

I have no doubt Rick is playing the "let's use our depth and foul excessively making the refs call a tight game". It's the only way SJ can win.

So if St. John's wins at Butler next game are they getting into the tournament? Their last two games are at DePaul and Georgetown at home, they'll win both of those.

McDermott keeps three of his players in the game all game. Today those tired legs are showing. How can they play three games in three days with Kalkbrenner, Baylor and Alexander 40 minutes a game. Meaning BE tourney.

Probably yes if they win their first round BET game. That will give them 20 wins, tough to keep them out.

Does this mathematically take Creighton out of the BE regular season title race?

What a close call. I still don't buy how the committee can overlook conference tourneys. If St. Johns get knocked out first round at home let's say, hard to ignore that if you had them on the bubble.

Best they can do now is 14-6. If UConn loses all 3 games, we’re 15-5. It’s between UConn and Marquette now

I'd rather Creighton have won to make them smacking us look less ugly.
I have to say I feel the opposite, imo just proves they are a flawed team and that even a dog can find their tail sometime especially when it’s against the #1 team. If anything continues to strengthen my faith in this team.

This was last chance for SJU to get a decent win. They finish with Butler, DePaul and G'town. I think even if they win those three to get to above .500 in conference, unless they have at least one BET win, they're still looking in from outside.

Creighton is who we thought they were.

NOBODY likes going out to freaking Nebraska for a dead of winter middle of the week one night stand, especially college kids. Creighton’s single greatest advantage is geography. Get them in MSG, they fall apart against a second division team.

That BET win would be a home game against one of the above teams.

Whelp that 15 minute segment devoted to Slick Rick at yesterday's ESPN Game Day didn't last long. Jay Williams looks brilliant compared to the others on the panel and I'm sure he's making the most of it. Especially given he threw shade at Rip and got grief from them with his advice and not daring to follow .

Granted it's early and Purdue will eventually go on a couple runs to put Michigan away, but as in other Purdue games I've seen, it seems relatively easy to chase their guards off the 3 pt line. They are reticent to take contested shots.

Michigan isn't gonna finish with enough players at the rate their fouling
