Week 9 games (Jan. 18-24)

UNC-G gets its first conference win of the season... 56-53 over ETSU.

North Dakota w/ a costly 2 point loss to Denver. Dropped to 5-2 in the Summit, South Dakota and South Dakota St. are both undefeated in conference still.
REALLY???? You of all people...It was ND STATE who lost. North Dakota is 0-12 on the year.

Kind of an upset in the Horizon League. Robert Morris picked up its first win of the season, 50-43, over Wright State. Robert Morris moves to 1-8 on the season, 1-8 in the Horizon. Wright State falls to 9-4, 9-2 Horizon League.
Could Robert Morris do it again? Tied with Wright State, 35-35, at the half.

.-.
Wright State holds a 51-45 lead, going to the 4th.

They did it again! Robert Morris upset Wright State for the second day in a row, 68-65.

Another upset in the Horizon: Cleveland State over Green Bay.

Huge upset brewing in Cullowhee... Western Carolina is leading the mighty Terriers of Wofford 49-34.. with 52 seconds left in the 3rd quarter. Can my Catamounts hold on???

A final out of the mountains...... Western Carolina (my catamounts) defeats the tough Terriers of Wofford 65-54, handing the terriers their first loss of the conference season. WCU got a measure of revenge in that Wofford handed them a 20pt loss on thursday.

Fight on you catamounts !!

So over on ESPN+ is 2nd place UCF vs. 4th place Houston with 2 min left in the 3rd Quarter 26-20! I am sooo glad to be out of the American. That is just a putrid game. At least the Big East 2nd (DePaul) and 4th place (Seton Hall) teams are more respectful representatives than this junk.

The Big East does need Georgetown and Butler to get better very soon as they are terrible. At least the 2-5 teams of DePaul, Marquette, SH and Villanova all look competitive albeit still slightly behind the ACC/Big 12 teams.

.-.
Down in Clinton SC.... the Blue Hose of PC lead the powerful Panthers of HPU 40-38 at the end of 3 quarters.:eek::eek: Lose this.... and High Point will fall from the BY Rankings.

Dang it I knew it was the Bizon but I forgot to type the State. You got me.

My goodness..... The Blue Hose lead the Panthers 50-49 with 3;52 left in the game

In the upset of the year so far in the Big South. #37 HPU falls to defeat to the Blue Hose of Presbyterian 65-56..... and with it.. its10 game winning streak is snapped. When the Presbyterians and Methodists battle.. throw out the record books... anything can happen...

It would be a huge undertaking, but it would be really interesting to compile the results of all of these back to back games against the same opponent, once the season is over. Probably gonna be a lot more splits of the series than one team winning both.

Don't try telling that to Robert Morris!

Nicholls gets back in the win column, 67-56, over New Orleans. The Lady Colonels now 4-8 on the season, 4-2 in the Southland, good enough for third place in the conference.

Don't try telling that to Robert Morris!
Fresno St. takes both games against Boise St. Broncos went from leading the Mountain West to definitely not in first place in a hurry.

Maybe there are more sweeps in these situations than I thought.

Clearly couldn't handle the pressure of being selected by a broad range of voters one faithless elector as the 37th-ranked team in the nation.

I get the negative visceral response on the pure aesthetics of it, but let's not forget that both UCF and Houston have laid waste to multiple so-called "power 5" teams this season, and what you've witnessed today is mainly the UCF "win ugly" factor, which is their specialty.

Pretty play and effective play are not always the same thing. I have no doubt that that the UCF Knights would beat at least two-thirds of the so-called "power 5" teams this season. I don't love watching them either, but their hard-nosed play under coach Abe makes them a tough out.

Milwaukee and IUPUI are doing the back to back matchup thing. Game 2 is in double OT.

Our friend @azfan 's Northern Arizona team lost to Montana St. again, got thumped today. They are completely out of the Big Sky race at 4-6. Idaho St. won again to improve to 10-0.

You can't stop Cal Baptist! 6-0 in the WAC and 14-0 overall.

Milwaukee edges IUPUI by 2 in double OT. Maybe there are a lot more sweeps in these back to backs than I originally thought.
