Hey hey hoop fans! We've arrived at the cusp of the conference season, and winter break, so there will hopefully be more top 25 games this week. After xmas eve, xmas day and upcoming nye dinners with family, I'm gonna have to work in some mini exercises during commercial breaks. Lots of intraconference games on deck, and four top 25 matchups.

It'll be elliptical sessions for half a game at minimum for me.

15:minutes till tip at the Mullet (hockey) arena on the campus of ASU. Coach Adair leads her 20 loss squad into the last non conference game and last time the Devils will be favored this season against Penn

The game will be on ESPN plus if you are a masochist. Penn riding a 5 game winning streak is hoping Adair's "team" is looking head to next week's game against Texas Tech..Why ASU would be looking forward to that loss is anyone's guess.....

Edit: in their last game the Devils showed how much pride they take in defense giving up 102 in a loss to Utah. After the first quarter the Devil's show a resolve to duplicating this defenses trailing the Quakers 25-23.

Started seeing some chatter online about Harmoni Turner so I marked it, hoping that we'd get a game on a non-paying channel. They are 11-1, and interesting to see them at the top of the league, with Princeton & Columbia at the 3rd and 4th spot, although a lot may change when conf games start up.

Looks like there are some good SEC matchups this week. It's a big week for Oklahoma with games against Texas and Tennessee. Win both games and they'll enter the 1-seed conversation. It's also a big week for Tennessee because a win against Oklahoma will be a good opening statement for Caldwell's system and prove they're a top 16 team.

We've done that and then some. St. Mary's moved to 4-0 already in WCC play today. Big 10 teams have a couple games under their belts. ACC has gotten started. Not sure about everybody, but starting conference play before New Year's is the new normal.

Look out! North Carolina Central beat Furman to move to 2-12. Eagles are HOT, 2 game winning streak. Furman was 9-5 heading into the game. W-L records...still pretty much meaningless at this point in the season.

I think some posters are high on the Portland Pilots. Have they played anyone so far? Princeton probably their best win. Oregon St., who is well documented for struggling this season, has been going toe to toe w/ them the whole way coming up to the end of Q3. Game is at UP. All tied up w/ 1 quarter to go. I'm not blown away watching the Pilots tonight.

Inês scored 14 points coming off the bench in Gonzaga's 72-54 win over Pepperdine. She was 5 of 8 from the field with 2 of 5 from behind the arc.

One less undefeated team left. Oregon St. just took out Portland on the road in OT. If you told me the Beavs were gonna win back to back @ Gonzaga and @ Portland...nope, there's just no way I would've believed you.

For obvious reasons, I have a soft spot for Vanderbilt. In the "others receiving votes" list in the AP poll, they've been in the 8, 7, 4, 4, 9, 5, 5, 2, and 1 spots. Portland just appeared in the 9th spot in ORV, at the bottom, where Vanderbilt is at the top.

I am looking forward to the Michigan/UCLA game. UCLA is looking pretty darn good. Michigan hung with USC for a little while. Jordan Hobbs had her best game of her Michigan career, so far. She balled out. Olivia Olson (Michigan) struggled greatly against USC. We will see how things go against UCLA for Michigan.

It's not a top 25 matchup, but this Washington-Illinois game on BTN right now is entertaining!

I said Oregon State would be a tough out in this conference by end of February. Looks like Scott's ahead of schedule! Impressive that in both games OSU rallied in 4Q on the road tie the game and win in overtime.

WCC is definitely a one-bid league — Portland is the only team in the NET top 100 — but still it's nice to see Scott making something happen out of the rubble.

Genesis Bryant went off but it's looking like the Huskies are gonna get a nice road win. I think this will easily the best team they've beaten this year.

84-75 final Washington wins. 11-20 from 3. Illinois stayed in it until the end with a big FTA disparity. Some intentional fouls down the stretch covered up a bit how one sided it was.

Their offense entered the portal before the game. 19 points late in Q3. That is not a misprint. Bad first half and zero points so far this quarter. But it's only been 7 1/2 minutes.
