Happy Monday BB fans! Since there is no AP poll this week, I got a head start on the t25 GOTW.

At North Carolina vs BC just to get a feel of North Carolina. They play small a lot, 4 guards 1 big. Everyone is pretty talented, so it sortve feels like an equal opportunity offense with Nyla Brooks given the opportunity to be ultra aggressive. Aarnisalo started this one on the bench which was interesting. Id criticize it but Raniya Kelly looks great. I didn't realize she was off to such a slow start this season but she's played well in the first half. BC looks awful. Not for lack of effort though. Cameron Swartz rolling over in her grave. Carolyn Swords rolling over in her grave. I like their point guard tho Tomlinson

Oof. 90-39 final score. It's gonna be interesting to see who is worse between BC and Pitt, both are really bad.

edit--Pitt lost to Notre Dame 94-59

Uh oh. Detroit Mercy lost to Rochester Christian...a NAIA school.

When UConn played Boston college in that exhibition game before the season. I had no idea Boston college was going to be this bad. I didn’t detect that at all after watching them.

Swords and Olson were really poor tonight. Michigan had a million turnovers. And their free throw shooting was historically bad. They still managed to pull out a tough conference win on the road. Good for them.

Poor???? How so? Sure, they didn't shoot well, but Swords had 16 points and Olson had 18 respectively. With the exception of Swords' turnovers, their stats are in line with how they're playing this season.

Did you watch the game? The box score flatters them. They did their damage early. Swords in particular played probably the worst half of her career in the second half. Olson at least was in foul trouble.

Yes I did. From an offensive perspective, sure it wasn't pretty, but the game is not won solely on offensive performance. They both made plays on the defensive end which is just as important in my opinion.

Swords made a turnover and comes back to draw a charge on Fiso during their fast break attempt during OT. Olson managed her foul trouble and came away with a key tie up that pushed the game to OT. Those were key plays that helped get them over Oregon. That type of grit and basketball IQ isn't something a box score does a good job at telling.

Don't forget Swords 3 and 3 for 4 from the foul line in the second overtime...

I inch of snow is supposed to cancel work days
I wish that was the case. The only place in Canada that I know shuts down with a couple inches of snow is Vancouver and parts of the Lower Mainland in British Columbia. Other than those areas, the snowfall needs to be significant before an emergency is announced, say 2 feet or more.

Fortunately my job allows me to work from home 4 days out of the week and I can decide to stay home when I'm supposed to be in the office during inclement weather like this. Sadly, not everyone has that luxury.

I was not impressed by Michigan last night. They look more like a #10-12 team.

B1G results:

Michigan 92-87 at Oregon in 2 OT

USC 74-66 at Nebraska, Jazzy had 17/8 plus 5 blocks

Maryland 97-59 over Wisconsin, 28 for Okananwa

In the ACC:

ND 94-59 over Pitt, 30 for Hidalgo

UNC 90-39 over BC. Eagles shot 21%.

In Santa Clara Loree Payne has her troops really revved up as they lead Seattle U 50-37 at the half. Vintage Payne basketball as the Broncos have launched 22-3s and are playing at a blazing pace. Sophie Glancy is finding the range as she's hit two threes in the first half. I will say that this is entertaining basketball but I'm not certain that the Broncos bring enough defense (the RedHawks are shooting 53% from the field and out rebounding the Broncs) to have a legitimate shot at the title. But boy are they fun to watch.

A great game in California as St Mary's is hanging with Oregon State as the game winds down 52-50 as the game winds down to its last 2 minutes.

Beavs hold on 63-57

In a bit of a surprise to me, Rhode Island ran away from Richmond in the 4th quarter. Tammi Reiss has the Rams headed in the right direction.
