I think she’s partially overstating to send a message to her players. And it’s good for them that she’s aware of problems (unlike the glorious Holly Warlick days when she oblivious and always thought they were about to turn the corner).
But at the same time, the level of dysfunction seems …. Not good.

Michigan locked in another dog fight, down 31-18 at Washington at the half. Yes, 18. Avery Howell having her way.

Not disagreeing but at some point she needs to look at herself. Her coaching style is very chaotic to me.

There was a discussion somewhere recently about most improved players in the country. I think Oregon soph Katie Fiso needs to be added to the discussion. Fr. year averaged 3 points on fairly low shooting numbers. As a soph up to 15 points shooting 50% and also 7+ assists. That's a big jump!

A great way to start the new year. Alabama gets dominated in football.
Huh? If you’re talking about he LVs win at home vs. Florida, where they shot 39% from the floor and 5-25 from 3 pt land than you and everyone else I KNOW clearly have different opinions about “great starts”…I am predicting 9-7 or 8-8 in SEC play and 8th or 9th seed. And yes, it will be GLORIOUS FOR ME watching an absolute beat down in Hartford on Feb 1…

Michigan getting clobbered by unranked Washington right now

Big West fans got their money's worth in the Fullerton Santa Barbara game that went right down to the wire. Fullerton is turning over opponents 29 times a game to lead the nation according to the announcers. Wow.

Super impressed with Fullerton's defense although they only turned the Gauchos over 27 times.

The Titans had 31 more shots than the Gauchos.

31

So even though Santa Barbara hit 11 threes I think it's going to be tough to beat anybody when you turn the ball over that many times.

Haha that quote describes Barker's approach to a T. My only question is: did she not watch film before recruiting her? Barker was the exact same way at UCLA. I feel kind of bad for Kim because her system would work better with talent that would play within it but also kind of confused by her approach because she has more talent than her system could ever capitalize on.

Okay, NOW we can talk about it. Washington tried really really hard to give the game away in Q4. 18 point lead dwindled down to 5. A ton of TOs, at least 3 shot clock violations in the quarter, bad passes. The overall result is good but that 4th quarter is extremely alarming.

Howell with a monster game 22 pts/16 rebounds. Sellers was pretty much sleepwalking until late in Q4 but still ended up w/ 11. Nobody else in double figures.

Michigan got a split, but didn't play well on this road trip. What's up with them?

Bad 4th quarter but a fantastic win for Washington. They seem to be headed in a great direction this year. 12 point win over the #6 team in the country is monumental.

Michigan is still pretty young and maintaining consistency at a high level is difficult. I wouldn't be shocked if they have a bit of a let down and lose several conference games. The makeup of this team kind of reminds me of Iowa during Caitlin Clark's sophomore year where they were pretty good but young, and sometimes rose to the challenge thrived and others they struggled and flopped.
