Week 7 - Dec 15 to 21

View attachment 114863

Throw one.... Or two in he microwave for 10 seconds.,. Top it with some whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.... And all the worries of this world will disappear for 2 minutes
We get groceries from Food Lion and have never seen/looked for these. Hmm. (But on the other hand, ever since 2020, we have used their pickup services, so..). My glucose level is already rising just looking at them.
Hope that they have cherry too. :-O

NC State started off on fire and led 18-2 and 23-5...but Davidson got hot in the 2nd half, getting within 1 point on a couple of occasions. NC State holds on, 68-59, to finish the non-conference 7-4, three of those losses to ranked teams.

Now, 10 days off until hosting Stanford on New Years Day.

Duquesne is walloping Pitt. The Dukes aren't as good as they were last year, but still plenty good enough to beat up one of the worst P4 teams.

edit--while George Washington is doing similar to Northwestern

Non P4s are getting left behind in this new era, but some P4s are also getting left in the dust.

Looking in on the Georgetown at Providence game, which has been a pretty even game so far, 50-48 Friars early in the 4th, but they showed Providence's upcoming games...Dec. 28 at SoCar and Dec.31 vs UConn. WOW!

Loree Payne's Broncos continue to streak. After putting 91 on the hapless Grand Canyon Antelopes in their last outing they're hitting all kinds of shots against North Texas to take the lead 23-10 at the end of the first quarter. North Texas goes scoreless over the last 5 minutes of the first quarter in part due to the Broncos defense and in part for some really questionable shot selection

Edit: raining threes in Denton Texas at the super pit. Former NAU Lumberjack Ava Schmidt on fire

Edit: ferocious comeback by North Texas in the third quarter cutting the 27-point deficit to 11.

Why do coaches feel as if they can guard Crooks for 40 minutes with single coverage?
I’m not sure why more teams don’t try to speed it up against Iowa State. While I’m a fan of Crooks and think her conditioning is generally better than she gets credit for, she’s not a gazelle getting up the floor.

Somewhat paradoxically, Crooks’ offensive game is actually more impressive to me because her rebounding numbers are weak for her size. She’s not feasting on putbacks.

Richmond is pulling away from Penn St. Not exactly shocking.

edit--Spiders up 70-52 w/ less than 30 seconds left.

Texas-South Dakota St. was closer than I thought it would be. Was real close until just before halftime. 70-51 final.

Home cooking in the Mountain West.

Starting in Griff City the wandering Lobos are getting blown out by the lady Rebs. This looks like vintage Lindy coaching. The Lobos have two technicals in the quarter and trail 31-13 at the end of 1. Wow.... It's raining threes in Las Vegas as the Rebs hit 12 and lead 54-32 at the half as the Lobos are wondering what's going on.

Defending champs San Diego State taking care of Boise State actually abusing the visitors - 50-24 at the half as Boise State will fall to 0-2 in conference.

Colorado State comfortably ahead of Utah Valley by double figures entering the fourth.

Also in Colorado Air Force is steam rolling Amanda Levin's Nevada team.

Looks like Wyoming may be the only visiting team with a chance to pick up a w today
Sooooo the hapless San Jose Spartans 1-10 have been inspired by the home cooking in conference. At the end of one they're leading Sacramento State 24-14 in an effort to support the home team sweep of all MW games. If this holds the basement classic against 1 and 10 Grand Canyon will be impacted. The Spartans are led by former NAU reserve Ally Cummings, who had an awkward tumble in the second quarter trying to retrieve a loose ball.

Yikes, West Virginia over Houston 101-46. Is that really a conference game?

Washington finally started a game strong. 12-0 to open against Pacific. Had a bit of a lull in Q2, but pushed the lead back to 19 before the break. Absolutely cruising in the 2nd half. Starters barely broke a sweat in this one.

edit--90-50 final; Aussie Fr. Harvey exploded for 22 off the bench in 17 minutes, 9-11 shooting; bench scored 48 combined

Oof. The Battle of Portland is not much of a battle. U. of Portland up 58-19 against Portland St. At the half.

KU had their top 2 scorers out, but I don’t think that would have helped them speed up. They look like a team solidly committed to a half court offense. At one point they had a 3 on 1 breakaway that was THE slowest and most unorganized effort I have seen in a while. They almost blew it.

Gonzaga has their hands full w/ 2-8 UC Riverside (although they have a bunch of close losses, so might be a bit better than their record indicates).

Look for the 14-0 Red Raiders to be ranked in the next poll. They can have Washington's spot, who will surely not be ranked next time.
