Hey hey hoop fans, another glorious week of sports ball awaits us. One note - there are a number of TBD games on Sunday, however since I'm in the final throes of picking a healthcare plan for 2026, not gonna research them. Cool? Ok, here we go. Only two top25 matchups this week.

The questions for me:
  • Will South Dakota St beat Duke? Could be a good matchup.
  • Why is Cal Poly even a D1 program? I mean, what are the Regents thinking?

@BRS24

You left off the biggest game of the week in the state of NC. The 10-1 Panthers of High Point make the hour long drive to visit the Wildcats of Davidson. I know you aren't from the South, but when the Methodists and the Presbyterians meet up, you can throw the Gospels out.

Well, I did highlight your Blue Devils, and must confess, IHCL. 😁

I'm curious about Washington @ Stanford. Both have good records so far, neither have really proved much to this point. Old conference foes getting reacquainted.

So when 1-7 Siena meets up w/ 0-8 Central Connecticut, would you guess it would be a beat down? Siena up 16 at the half. They had them doubled up earlier.

edit--I did not manage to turn the tide by posting about this; Siena up 87-56 w/ under 2 minutes left

so how bad do you have to be to get beat by 30 by a team who had 1 win prior to today?

Win or lose, SDSU gets Texas a few days later. I'm predicting that one will get ugly.

Oh my. So I looked at Central Connecticut's schedule to date (1 loss by 9, the others all by double digits including a bunch of beat downs). The NEC is chock full of terrible teams. Fairleigh Dickinson the only one with a winning record. 2-7 New Haven. 1-8 Le Moyne. 1-9 Chicago St. 0-8 (about to be 0-9) Central Connecticut. 0-9 Mercyhurst. 0-9 St. Francis. A league like this challenges the notion that all conferences should get an auto bid to the Tourney.

Kent St. beat the law firm of Davis & Elkins 117-37. Yet another "Come on man, I know that's not really a college" special.
Although to be fair, D&E is a real school with a real campus (of about six buildings). I've been there. They are a DII school with less than 700 students.

I knew a girl that played for them in the early 90s . Cant remember her name but can remember her parents’ names. Old age strikes me again.

Central Connecticut needs to change their team name. They ain't good enough to warrant such a glorious name.

That’s cold. The name doubles as general driving directions to the school. 🤣

Thru Q3 Olivia Miles is 2 rebounds away from another triple double. I think that would be back to back games. Not sure if she'll keep playing though, they are WAY ahead.

Cincinnati lost to Howard. Added to their collection of Ls--Lehigh, St. Joe's, Ball St., Miami (OH) and Xavier. How did UNLV lose to Cincy?

Whoa, Suarez has a triple double. Have teammates ever done it in the same game before? That would be insane!

There you go. A double triple-double. Or is it a twin triple-double? Miles 25 pts/10 reb/11 assists, Suarez 20 pts/10 reb/10 assists. I'm just guessing, but they probably left Miles in to get that last rebound. She played 36 minutes. TCU slaughtered Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

Marta Suarez is really daring the media not to put her on an All-America team. 19/game on 55/43/90+ shooting splits. I’m starting to wonder just how many better duos than Suarez and Miles there are in the country.

LSU has racked up their fifth victory against a team ranked below 300 by Massey. They also defeated #292. That’s half of all the games they’ve played, and they have another before the conference season begins. 🤬
