I don't think I ever looked up Schaefer's history prior to Mississippi St. He had a not particularly good record at Sam Houston St. Kudos to MSU for seeing something in him that wasn't obvious from his Ws and Ls.

edit--whoops, there was a big game between where he was an assistant at Arkansas and then Texas A&M

After SHSU, he spent 15 years with Gary Blair including his #2 during TAMUs NC run.

She hurt her arm during yesterday's game but returned to the game pretty quickly. She only scored 8 points so maybe it's a little worse than they thought at first.
 
I didn't jinx TCU, but I did jinx Suarez. She didn't score in the 2nd half. Miles flirted w/ a triple double but didn't get there.
 
I’d really like to see more shooting range from Edwards because I think it exists already, but the Kitts and Watkins absences have left SC with so little depth at the 4 that she’s likely paintbound this year. But I don’t know that it’s where her long-term prospects point. I think Nneka Ogwumike could be a good model for Joyce’s game.

Those moments where she dribbled full court and then took it to the hoop — at her size — that’s gotta be attention grabbing to pro scouts.

They’re not firing Lawson if that’s what you are implying.

But yes this is shaping up to be a disastrous year.

I remember Jadyn Donovan kind of being a good/interesting prospect a couple of years ago. Shut out in both games at this event. Averaging like 2.5 ppg this season.

Next off-season if you see me talking about Top Dog this, or Beast of the Southeast that..... I'll give y'all permission to come down to the Triad and slap some sense into me. First come, first serve .. 2 BY members max.. maybe 3 if you bring lunch. . Don't want 57 members showing up at my house 😣😣😣

Might be time to check out the liquor store, gonna be a long winter..,. As my mother often says ... Lawd Hanercy..

See, what’s odd to me is — she rivals Jackie Young’s physique. Certainly one of the most muscular women at this level. At 6’0” I’d think she’d be good for 6ish ppg just off posting up smaller guards. Seems like they don’t know how to use her. I’m not convinced Fournier can be a #1 option on a contending team, although to be fair I’m not sure Duke is neither a contender nor has alternative #1s right now.

Donovan is probably one of those recruits who rose in the rankings based on her ability to score in HS off physical abilities. Kennedy Smith, while further along as a player at one class younger, looks like another such case.
 
I think Duke’s going to climb out of this early season hole with an overall decent season record, largely because I don’t think the ACC is very good, but unless they upset LSU (I find that highly unlikely given LSU’s scoring talent off its big three alone), they’ll have lost every big game on their schedule with ugly extra losses to WVU and South Florida as sour cherries on top.

Congrats to the Longhorns. Hope we play 5 times again in 2026 though only 4 are foreseeable.

Their Sophs Lee and Carleton were very effective last night. When they are seniors and the present recruiting class are sophs, they could be scary good.
