Week 4 - Nov 24-30

30 minutes till tib at the Michelob Ultra Arena. The Bruins and Longhorns are on the floor shooting around and I'm stunned, looks like less than a thousand fans in the seats. When I checked for seats last week it I don't remember any of the seats in the lower part of the bowl available.

It's amazing to watch these elite athletes in warm up. Betts spending some time working on her outside jumper. Former kitty Cunningham has a smooth vibe going on looks like she's shooting hoops with friends rather than getting ready for one big game.

Can't see who's calling the game.... Looks like one of them has a kelly green sweater or dress on.

How do stands look now?

If the tickets are sold in books it may be that a lot of them were sold to garnet wearing folk.

Very big, but slow. Or Texas makes them look that way. Texas still loves them some mid range jumpers, but seem to have many more players who can create and make a shot than last season somehow.

Officials have not done UCLA any favors in the very liberal application of what constitutes a charge.
 
Soooooo....Texas defense is smothering and clearly irritating to the Bruins.

Texas is as advertised.... and ..... I am really impressed with Carlton she seeks out contact

Harmon has really outplayed Rice, in fact the best point guard on the floor for the Bruins has been Leger Walker.

Agreed. Their guards look so slow against TX. Texas also has bigs to push Betts out. And it seems Close can't come up with a new gameplan or use Betts in other ways so they just look bad. I hope they can figure something out in the second half.

Rice, Jacquez, and Betts don't look like future W players. Maybe it's the system? After one of the timeouts the announcers said Close told her team that they didn't do anything they talked about prior to the game. This seems like the exact situation in the FF. That has to be on Close. Everyone knows they are trying to get it into Betts, and TX is stopping them from doing it. So her plan is to just keep trying to get her the ball. Poor coaching IMO.

A little bit, at least if you look at stats, points, assists and fg percentage are all up a little but she definitely hasn’t developed as much I thought she would from freshman year
 
TX punched UCLA in the mouth, and no response. Thought the Bruins would at least make some kind of run in Q3.

Winner of this mini-tourney will get some #1 votes. Esp if it's TX.
 
Has baby Betts been playing in any of UCLAs games? She was very highly touted but can recall hearing her name the few times I’ve heard UCLAs games
 
Texas has no guards off the bench with both Preston and Crump out. Harmon, Booker, and Lee have all played every minute and will likely have to do so again tomorrow, Wheels coming off for Texas late in the third and early in the fourth. Hope they can get the juice back for the next 8 minutes.

I can't believe these two teams (UCLA, TX) are currently ranked higher than Michigan. LOL
This game isn't great.

Disney refs definitely hurt UCLA in this one.

Vic's offense turned back into Vic's offense in the second half.

we're looking dead at another Texas-SCar matchup. Oh well. Maybe SCar will lose to Duke to shake it up.

Another Vic Schaefer defensive special brings down UCLA. TX goes up by 23, tries to give it away and hangs on for the win. Not the prettiest game in the world. But that’s typically the way these battles with the Longhorns devolve. UCLA struck me much the same as when UConn blitzed them in the FF last season. They are BIG and not particularly athletic.
