30-17 final to improve to 4-0. Records to date for Opponents on our schedule - 9-2 (NC State 2-1 with a loss to Notre Dame, FIU 3-1 & GA State 4-0). No, not a top 20 opponent on the schedule so far, and UConn probably shouldn't be 0-3, but the preseason thought that two fo first three teams on the schedule were "bad" (or worse), appears to be incorrect.

Agreed, FIU was the worst loss due to effort and the fact it was a home game. Losing at GA State was not good but not as bad as originally thought.

NC State struggling with UVA. One point game toward the end of the third quarter, but a late third period score gives the Wolfpack a 21-13 lead with about 10 minutes left in the game.

NC State was able to squeek by UVA 24 to 21. UVA is 0-4. UVA played well most of the game.

Crazy ending at UVA tonight. Cavaliers score with 36 seconds left to pull within 21-19. UVA penalized after the TD for a head butt, so they have to convert from about 18 yards out to tie. Freshman QB finds a receiver for two point conversion, but then takes his helmet off in celebration, resulting in a 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalty, assessed on the kickoff. Return brings State inside the 50 with 26 seconds left. Three running plays by State results in a 50 yard FG try, which is blocked. However, a State defender went over the backs of the linemen to block the ball, which is another 15 yard penalty. This time the kick is good, and the Pack (3-1) escapes with a very uninspiring 24-21 win over winless Virginia (0-4). So UConn opponents (played so far) are now a combined 10-2 on the season.

I really hate the penalty for taking off the helmet. There is so many more flagrant unsportsmanlike conducts than that.

The refs really tried to hose UVA, and they finally succeeded. It’s sad that Vegas has ruled the NFL for quite a few years now, it’s why I haven’t watched an NFL or NBA game in 20 years. When there’s significant money riding on an outcome, Vegas makes the calls. The refs are puppets. When the targeting on Jackson was reversed by a phone call from upstairs it’s the first thing I thought of, or the obvious no encroachment call, or the obvious OB no call on Duke with 6:04 left in the 3rd quarter where he stepped OB around the 47 yard line. I hope this doesn’t get into the college game but after what I saw today looks like someone definitely wanted Duke to cover.
