Top 25 games this week, along with some friends. Note that there are some TBD games this coming weekend that I'll update if ranked teams are in those slots. One top 25 match up on both Saturday and Sunday. (note - if any errors, apologies, as I had to redo the chart as ESPN's updates of rankings hadn't tricked down to the schedule page. Ugh)

22 Illinois beat up Le Moyne, 94-25. Ouch!

17 Ole Miss is currently up 30 on Jackson St with only 6 minutes left to play.

Hardly the most riveting contests today. A bunch of ranked teams feasting on cupcakes.

Cupcakes being feasted on is the plan for an awful lot of Power 4 programs, actually. Many of their Power 4 games are the result of tournaments, special situations and that sort of thing.

The one "happy" thing I noted is that most of the DII (and maybe DIII for all I know) games against DI competition do not involve Power 4 teams. But they are not uncommon in the lower conferences.

Lopes played the Ducks even in the second half (actually outscored Oregon by 2).

Tradition holds that both halves count toward the outcome so by a score of 54-70 Grand Canyon:

1. Held Kelly scoreless on 0-9 - Molly Miller emphasizes defense.

2. Won the turnover battle

3. Showcased Olympian guard Trinity San Antonio

And lost.

As I was posting wins and losses on my spreadsheets, I looked. There are 14 teams, between the B1G and Big12 that do not have another P4 team on the schedule except for tournaments and special neutral court events. Most of the ones who do have only one.

The SEC and ACC play each other in a "challenge" so I skipped them, but wouldn't be shocked that, absent their challenge game, many of them also have limited competition with other P4 teams.

Geno goes for the record books tomorrow night with over 65 UConn alum in the building. Not sure how much I'll pay attention to anything else except ND v. USC

I know Duke has played Maryland...... and next week play Kansas State and if victorious, would face Oklahoma. That is of course in addition to SCAR in the ACC/SEC challenge. We were supposed to play SCAR anyway, but unfortunately they made it part of the challenge.

VaTech lost everyone from last year including their coach, but still managed to beat Rutgers tonight
Not quite everyone. I'd say Micheaux, Ekh and Wenzel are a decent nucleus to build around. But go ahead and make fun of Rutgers, they still have some karma points to work off from some of those C. Viv teams.

I looked and most of the ACC teams in fact are playing other P4 teams. The B1G was the worst, but I couldn't exclude the Big 12 because my team, Arizona, is one of them; our best non-tournament opponent was UNLV. We are playing 2 P4 in a tourney, but I still think this is a weak schedule.

Don’t know about the rest of the SEC, but off the top of my head, the gamecocks play nine teams from the P-4.5 wbb conferences including a projected contender from each:

Big 12:
TCU
Iowa state

Big 10:
UCLA
Michigan
Purdue

ACC
NC State
Duke
Clempsun

Big East
UConn

Now, let’s take a look at LSU . . .

Oregon plays its second P4 opponent tonight when it takes on Auburn. Then off to Hawaii for tournament games against Georgia Tech and South Dakota. State.

The South Dakota State game could be an interesting match up.
