Week 3 AP Poll posted

I'm not much for eye tests, 'cause I'm not sure what people are looking at. Before the SC game, it wasn't entirely clear to me why Stanford wasn't a 3 rather than a 2. But who should have been at #2? Well, the only candidate was UConn, and with all the injuries, there were just too many question marks to speak decisively for them until these last 2 games. But Stanford proved themselves to be a contender on the same day that we did. Sigh.

But now, I think we can see pretty clearly that you couldn't slip a 'hare' (note Bugs Bunny reference) between #2 and #3. Now for the eye test. Where's Stanford's obvious advantage?

-- In the front court, I think. Brink, Iriafen, Belibi and Prechdel is a considerable bench, and we don't matchup well with Brink. As for Jones, I think Aubrey could be an interesting matchup for her, but can we do that for an entire game? We'll need her to help out in the post. Advantage Cardinal

-- In the backcourt, Jump is a proven perimeter shooter, and Lepolo had a really good game (mostly), but I think there's really no comparison to our backcourt even injured. When Caroline returns to full strength, I think they don't have enough answers for Azzi Nika Lou Caroline. Advantage Huskies

-- Playing style, ours is a high energy running defense. But we'll have no speed advantage over them. Our defense may be a little better in the backcourt, but it's probably not quite as good in the front court. This seems like a draw to me.

I can't wait to see this game, if it comes this season.

Tara plays 12-15 kids a game and it's probably going to get Uconn in foul trouble because they are big and all pretty good. I know one game and short mins means nothing but the 6'7" Betts didn't show much..I would think Tara's staff will be working with her just as Geno's is working with Patterson..posters haven't said much but I thought Patterson played fairly well..she can rebound and eventually will learn not to foul

They were ranked #2 and lost in OT to the consensus best team in the nation and as much as I like Uconn the eye test shows they are the top 2 teams in the nation
They lost at home - in very poor fashion i might add. The eye test told me something else. Stanford looks worse than last year without the Hull twins and Uconn looks quite a bit better so far. How did they do last time they went head to head?

Stanford played 11 yesterday, after the top 6 the next 5 that saw time averaged 4 minutes.

Gonzaga, Marquette and even Creighton rankings are disrespectful. LSU playing a cream puff schedule and being rewarded with a higher ranking this week is laughable and lazy work. Tennessee and Baylor records and eye test early in this season doesn't say they're deserving of their ranking. Smaller or less known programs that have earned their keep so far need to be highlighted.
