Week 18 preview (Mar. 7-13)

This color analyst on the Southland call sounds like he could be Ed Orgeron's brother :D

Turns out it was Van Chancellor

Anyway... SE Louisiana prevails in overtime 59-44 over TAMU-CC.... The Lady Lions vs The Cardinals tomorrow for the Southland Championship.

Stephen F. Austin about to cruise into the Big Dance. Up 20 w/ a minute left in the WAC Championship.

In the Missouri Valley, #1 seed Southern Illinois got knocked out by Illinois St. in first semi, and Northern Iowa is about to take out #2 seed Missouri St.

What a joy to see Carla Berube and Princeton win the Ivy tournament. The canceled 2020 tournament was a huge blow to them. That team, led by Bella Alarie, could have made some noise. And then their whole season was canceled last year.

Great announcing team on this game: Dan Hughes and Elise Woodward.

For the first time since 2009... The 49ers of Charlotte advance to the NCAA tournament with a 68-63 victory over Louisiana Tech. My 49ers :):):):):):):) Conference USA Champions.

Louisiana Tech led by double digits in the first half, came tantalizingly close to their first NCAA tournament bid since 2011. But alas, it wasn't to be.

@triaddukefan was Karen Aston the coach at Charlotte the last time they made the tournament?

Yes. Charlotte has been a solid mid major for about two decades. Aston followed Amanda Butler who left to go to Florida. Butler followed Katie Meier who left to go to Miami.

FGCU was tested by Jacksonville State but pulled away in the second half.

Bubble teams again breathe a sigh of relief.

I thought Woodward worked exclusively on the West Coast, really surprised she's was calling an Ivy League game. I sure those 2 got acquainted while Hughes was coaching the Storm and Woodward was calling their games.

Hawai'i wins the Big West over UC Irvine in a pretty ragged game. The Anteaters cut the lead to 6 in the 4th quarter and missed a ton of opportunities to get closer. The Rainbow Wahine were 2 of 20 from 3, but won the game from the FT line — 27 of 32 on free throws!

As of today, out of 32 conferences, 16 #1 seeds have won their tourney, 14 have not, and 6 games to be played today. Of the 6 games today, Big12 and Colonial still have #1 seeds (Baylor, Drexel) in the final.

I haven't always paid attention to such things, but I can't recall a time when a team ranked in the 300s of the RPI/NET made the NCAA Tournament.

Today, both Bryant (325) and Incarante Word (316) are trying to earn that distinction.

Illinois St. wins the MVC 50-48 over Northern Iowa. UNI completely collapsed last half of Q4. Will the Valley be a one bid league this year?

Final tally - 16 AQs #1 seeds, 16 were not. Should be interesting to see how this shakes out re bids per conference.

Has Delaware made the Tourney since EDD left? They are in this year.

UIW does it. Are they the only team w/ a sub .500 record who will be in the Tourney?
