Week 16 - Feb 19 to 25 (games, conf standings, NET)

In the CAA... NC A&T took a 20 minute road trip to face off against an improving Elon squad. After leading just 34-29 at halftime, My Aggies outscored the Mighty Phoenix 43-17 in the second half to win 77-46. They improve to 11-3 in the conference... firmly in second place after 12-2 Stonybrook.

I don't even recognize NC State from the start of the season. They shot 23% (6 of 28) in the first half. 1 assist...8 turnovers. I guess securing a top 4 seed in the ACCT isn't important to them.

It won't hurt Oregon State much, as long as Beers can return healthy. Her absence will be noted by the committee.

Any word on her condition? Is it just a broken nose, or is there a concussion concern?
No word yet on Beers. I have to say that UW played great today. OSU was handled. Shots did not fall for OSU, but I give a lot of credit to the UW Defense. Without Beers OSU can't make a deep run. Kelsey Rees has no offensive game, and was abused by Daniels today. But most importantly, Beers is a monster on defense. Beers does a great job defensively slowing down the ball handler when the opponents center sets a high pick. OSU's offense runs through Beers and so does OSU's defense. OSU can suck it up with Beers on the bench getting a breather, but not an entire game. GO BEAVS!

If it were a broken nose I’d think she’d have been back by now. But this says it’s just that:

Duke!!!

Brink was out sick for the past week, and our fan board reported that Bosgana hacked up a lung on Friday and never went back on the court after she was subbed out 3 minutes in. And Brink has missed about as many free throws today as all season total. Who knows who else has it... Plus Lepolo is out with a knee thing. Not making excuses, but we sound like we're definitely not "staffing at" 100 percent.
I heard from a fan who sits close to the bench that Brink had to get off the bench to throw up during the game today. Quite a warrior. It was Senior Day today and you wouldn't know from her comments at the celebration that anything was wrong.

Not great shooting for Clark today, but 24/15/10 is impressive. She got a seat on the bench the last couple minutes. 16 made 3's for the team.

Cook and Bryant looked good for Illinois, combined for 45.

98-83 in the closing seconds.

edit--make that 17 3's; 101-85 final
Went to the game today; Iowa puts up 101, yet didn't look solid.

CC looked off; not only was her shooting inaccurate, but sloppy with the ball. Of course she had a triple-double.

Gabby Marshall has not been playing up to last year's standards on offense and came out of the game in the 2nd half with an injury.
One journalist said Coach Bluder commented it "didn't look good".

Iowa kinda wobbly here late in the season. Same situation last year, yet they righted the ship.

Can they do it again?

I am going to make the not so bold prediction that Duke will avoid the 8-9 game in the NCAA Tournament first round. Their defense is stout, even if their offense can come and go.

If NC State was trying to convince me that they didn’t peak in November, they better try harder.

NC State looking like a team that won't be around the second weekend.

Am I correct in thinking the ACC is down to a 2 team race between VA Tech and Syracuse for the regular season crown?

That was a weird play. She drove, then stopped and just fell over. Looked like something with an ankle. Bluder was hopping mad there wasn't a foul called, but there wasn't any contact.

I think VaTech claimed the regular season today. They own tiebreakers over both Syracuse and NC State.

Duke 2 ranked wins ==> I think the BDs could be as high as #20 tomorrow.

If Fairfield and/or Princeton get more votes than Duke tomorrow.....

. well..... imma log on this site and complain.

The AP beat me to it: I'd have Indiana in the 16 instead of Notre Dame.
