Week 13 preview (Jan. 31–Feb. 6)

I thought they ran a good play--got a wide open look that missed. Probably should've executed a few seconds earlier though.
They didn’t give themselves a chance if they did miss the shot. The ran it down to basically a few seconds left

Finley definitely out coached Joni though. Baring a collapse, she should be unanimously the SEC coach of the year

Florida about to pull off another big win, up 1 against Georgia on the road with ball and a second to go.
I agree. Georgia should have run a play so if they missed, they would have had time to try another play to win the game. Florida is a surprised team in the country right now. Especially after the Lavender Briggs transfer.

I dunno who said that the ACC was deep and no nights off... but it wasn't me. That's more of a SEC and Pac 12 thing. Now I definitely said there are no nights off... but that was for the Big South.
Well, you missed it then. I'm pretty sure the exact collocation was "incredibly deep". I agree it definitely stretches the limits of the credible.

Bad weekend in the desert for Oregon St. Fell to Arizona 73-61 today. TvO only Beav in double figures, scoring has been a PROBLEM this year. 3 Cats in double figures.

Speaking of can't score...Washington held under 50 points AGAIN. Got boat raced in the 2nd half 43-20 by Colorado after being tied at halftime. Can this year end already? (just for UW, everybody else can keep playing)

edit--Quay Miller hangs 18 on her former teammates, Hollingshed led the way w/ 20; Mulkey scored 16, nobody else did anything for the Dawgs

5 minutes to tip at Desert Financial Arena and the REMATCH against the ducks. This should be interesting....wonder how Graves' squad will react/ rebound from their encounter in the Old Pueblo Friday nite. Let's hope their bus was on time.

In pre game CTT indicated Maggie Besslink would be available. After her explosion against shorty and the Beavs I suspect Jade Lovelle aka Love will be the focus of duck quacks.

Jeff Munn indicated the eruption by Reuck was due to his ignored effort to call time out with 18 seconds left before Kate Leving's steal.

Florida St. nearly blew a big lead but held on to beat Notre Dame 70-65.

Utah was up big on Washington St., held off a rally to win 72-66. After the top 3, the rest of the Pac 12 continues to beat up on each other.

Earlier this week Miami lost by 3 to Louisville (69-66). Today, Miami was down 53-13 to UNC at halftime. Final was 85-38.

Strange season.

Utah's NET ranking is even more inexplicably high than UNC's. This result will only buttress that inflated ranking.

The Pac-12, after the top 3, really does have a messy pile of about 6 bubble teams. Stanford, Arizona and Oregon better start pulling an ACC and just handing out wins to dubious teams the way that NC State did to Notre Dame.

And this afternoon CTT's squad is really giving the ducks fits.

And looming in the second half . . . The Curtain of Doom.

28-2 after 1st q!

Vandy-Bama going to OT
Must win for Shea to have a shot at postseason

Kentucky lost again (to TAMU in OT) and is now 9-10. They'll be 9-11 after SC game.

Pretty much need to go 5-1 down the stretch. They play the bottom half of the conference -- Ala, Aub, Van, Mo, Ark, MsSt -- but still that'd be tough.

Wouldn't say they're a favorite vs Missouri, Miss State or Arkansas ... particularly if they're on road.

After scoring 31 points thru 3 quarters, UCLA finishes big w/ 28 in Q4, avoids a bad loss @ Cal. 59-54 final.

USF with a bad loss, 67-55 to Tulane
The Bull-ettes could be in a little bit of trouble. Game next weekend vs UCF is must win to have a shot at regular season title.
The wins over Stanford and Oregon will likely save their NCAA chances if they can finish 22-7.

Arizona State beats Oregon 55-49.

Now, I would be remiss if I failed to mention that Creighton did beat Arizona State earlier this season. I'm sure that ASU was down several starters, however.

Baylor swept Texas. I think I've said it before, but Texas has been largely disappointing ever since that win over Stanford.

Really the whole sport comes down to Creighton if we're honest with one another.

Clemson outscored Virginia 35-22 in the 2nd half to eek out a 4 point win, UVa still looking for their first conference win. How long can Thompson last there? Which WNBA star turned failed HC gets canned first--Thompson or Whalen?

The lost to Texas Tech and Kansas (at home I think). Just don’t think they are very good this year overall. They have young talent but not much from upperclassman

Creighton could've almost sewn up #2 in conference today, but lost to Marq 50-47.
Also wouldve been under consideration for my next BY ballot.

No, CTT had the full team available. The Blue Jays were strong from beyond the arc 7 of 15 from three land and frankly we didn't defend very well. In fact Bachelor and Ronsiek really had a field day and after the game CTT was quite candid in how disappointed she was in the defensive effort.

It's not to take anything away from a Blue Jay squad that just beat DePaul and is talented and very well coached.

I know the full team was available. Just having a little fun.

UConn Wednesday, @Depaul Friday and @Marquette today was tough. Marquette is very physical, fouls every possession and I'm sure Creighton struggled to run its offense.
