Week 13 - Jan 29 to Feb 4

Iowa must have 6 missed layups in the first 5 minutes of the game. Mostly Stuelke, but it's been a team effort.

edit--even more missed bunnies, good thing they can't miss from behind the arc

Michigan once again doing that thing where they careen from good to horrible back to good again
I thought penn st was on the rise with the emergence of owusu. So much for that

Iowa blew an 18 point lead in about 4 minutes. Pretty crazy.

Maryland played great in stretches, but Iowa always had an answer. Clark went cold in the 4th quarter but her teammates stepped up. Affolter had a number of big plays. Caitlin's passing was great all throughout the game.

How is Davis only averaging 6 ppg? Every time I watch the Hawkeyes she has 12, 15, 18, something like that.

17 O boards for Iowa, that's huge. Overall 47-30 rebounding advantage. Hawkeyes have a small lineup on the floor most of the time.

So many teams have beat up Maryland this season yet Iowa struggles to get the win. Hmmm.

I'm certain if Maryland had played the way they did tonight more often, they would not be getting beat up.

Clark's first win at Maryland. First win for Iowa at Maryland in 30+ years. I think they'll take it, regardless of how close it was.

It was really annoying that the commentators kept insisting all game that Clark was trying to match Watkins' scoring from last night. I'm sure that was not on her mind even slightly.
To be fair she was nearly on pace at the half (23 points) and was red hot. I was happy to hear them bring up Juju though and give her the well deserved props. 51 of your team's 67 points is an insane stat I don't know if I've ever seen before at the college level.

Clark with another nice night, started out red hot and then cooled off at the end but got the job done. 38 points, 12 assists, 6 rebounds for her. This didn't even feel like a standout night from her which shows how spoiled us viewers are becoming.

She scored 2, and 3 points in her previous two games. Looking at her stats, she shows up for the big games like Indiana and Ohio St but not for the Purdue and Wisconsin games

How long til the rest of the WCC votes to kick Gonzaga out? GU hammering Pacific 100-37 right now...and Pacific is tied for 3rd in the conference, 1 game back of 2nd place.

Who was it that said the gap between Gonzaga and the rest of the conference was massive? Was that me?
Gonzaga is a classic "sleeper" team...at least in these eyes. I've only seen them play once (against Louisville) but they seem like a really solid team that could make a Sweet 16. They won't be challenged again prior to the NCAAT.

Also in WCC news, San Diego about to get their first conference win of the season, against also tied for 3rd place San Francisco.
That's why we play the games...and not just decide things on paper!

It was just a typical Clark game. She was just playing like she normally does. It was fine that they brought up Watkins and gave her props, but they didn't need to keep yammering on about Clark trying to one up her.

CCSUs Samora Watson had 37 in a W over Merrimack. Her 3rd 30-pt game this season

In Mid Major Action. There is a 3 way tie for 1st place in the Big South. Radford beat SC-Upstate in OT while High Point defeated the Blue Hose of Presbyterian. Radford, Upstate and HPU are tied at 7-2

In Southern Conference Action. If you thought Western Carolina would go 0-fer the conference season, you were mistaken. The Catamounts set a school record for shooting percentage and broke a 13 game conference losing streak with a 78-71 victory over UNC-Greensboro (my spartans)
The Big East will get three for sure; UConn, Creighton, and Marquette. Nova or St. John's might sneak in as that 4th team. A lot depends on the rest of the field and how those two teams do in the Big East the rest of the season and into the tournament.

Three is enough.

Fake arse Blue Devils. Duke needs to play them in sports across the board. The winner keeps the Blue Devil name.

Well, when you take an announcer from MBB games that has done less research on the WBB players and teams, and doesn't have have to work on their craft every day, every week, these are the story lines we get. With respect to her scoring prowess, CC has been the same player for four years, and yet the johnny come lately crowd all of a sudden notices, or decides that this is going to be the major season story line. It's great eyes on WBB, however there are so many good players, teams, and stories, however we get what they want us to get.

Funday Sunday y'all! After a small slate of top 25 team games yesterday, here's another day of great matchups. I'm still musing, however that as a sports network, CBSSN is not listed for UConn's game. Added that in, along with games on FS1. My remote is gonna get a super workout.

And for those that like picking games, there's a pick em game on Stashlete that I found a bit late in the season, however it has major and mid major conference matchups, so it's been fun.

Excited for the Indiana - Ohio State. Top 10 matchup. Don't know what to expect from Indiana, they seem a little overrated. They've played 3(really 2) ranked teams. They got blown out by Stanford and Iowa, and beat. We all know how things to turned out for TN. Wins against Princeton and Penn State could count as ranked wins since both teams have been ranked and fell off. But top 10 is a little high for Indiana.

YEA! Finally! I get a chance to see UCONN. I'll watch a little of that until it reaches blowout proportions, which probably won't take long.
