Week 12 (Non-UConn)

I used to view UMass as a rival in the early 90s in 1-AA, so there was some hatred. But now? I just feel kind of bad for them...
I I want them to do well too. UConn and UMass both being competetive does nothing but help both schools because it reignites that rivalry and gets nmore eyeballs on NE football.

I said I felt bad for them. I never said I wanted them to do well...

This is why we shouldn't ever play them.

Their level of suck just reminds people of our former level of suck and unwanted comparisons begin dragging us down. We need to break that.

Our regional rival is BC not UMass. And yes, I know they suck right now too but they will never be confused with Umass.

genuine question - Is UMass worse than we were AT OUR WORST?
if so, what makes them worse?
At our worst, our SP+ was -25.9

UMass current SP+ is -32.5 (doesn't include the NIU game)

Our worst Sagarin rating was 42.99

UMass current Sagarin rating is 39.03

They are a magnitude level worse

Clemson needs to beat either Lou tonight or SC in a few weeks to get bowl eligible. (I’ve already credited them beating Furman next week.)

Do they get it?

The ACC is a dumpster fire this year. I hope GT gets the bid to the playoffs
It's wild because Pitt holds a lot of influence over things. They have ND, GT, and Miami in a row to end the season. Not to mention that Duke can actually get into the league championship game, If they do though, that just means that only one of those two teams playing in it will get in. I do believe that if Miami goes 10-2 they will get in, unless they get in the conference championship and lose it. 3 losses puts them out for sure, but they have a good spot if they can manage to win out, which is a big question with Cristobol coaching.

Duke (4-1, 5-4) is in the running for the ACC but isn't even bowl eligible yet and has UVA, @UNC, Wake to finish the year. Duke could win the ACC or not even make it to a bowl game!!

Right now FSU and Clemson are probably thinking, hey, go get UConn! We need some wins!

Louisville was both undisciplined and really outcoached by themselves in the 4th quarter tonight. Capping it off by switching out kickers for the final fg try. The starter was having a rough night but he wasn't way off on the other miss. It was no surprise that kick wasn't even close by his sub.

Pitt is going to start a three game losing streak starting this weekend. The ACC is terrible this year.

ND doesn't count as a conference game for PItt. And if Duke wins the conference, there's a chance they're not in the top five of conference champions and don't get the auto-bid to the CFP. Then the only way for ACC to get in is based on having someone ranked high enough to be selected. Like I said last week. If us beating Duke last week sparked a zero bid ACC possibility, we should send flowers to Jim Philips with a love note from Jonathan.

I'm not counting it as a conference game. I should have specified that I was thinking of the playoffs in general when it comes to ND. If Pitt beats them, ND is out. I wasn’t clear there.

No chance Pitt wins the game today against ND. Already 14-0 half way through 1st QTR. the ACC is bad - very bad this year.
