Week 12 games (Feb. 8-14)

Oakland edged Milwaukee by 1, IUPUI and Green Bay both notched wins. Wright St. has a leg up in the Horizon, fierce battle for 2nd.
 
Missouri Valley looks like it's pretty much between Missouri St. and Drake, that sounds familiar.
 
Costly loss for the Lopes yesterday as they hall into a tie for 2nd with Utah Valley.. Even a split today at noon against Utah Valley leaves the Lopes behind the 8 ball as UV had a much easier ending stretch while Lopes face Cal Baptist. Unless the Lopes upset the Lancers in one UV may finish with a better in conference record.
 
Thanks again to those who kept the porch light on here. I had a whole lot of real life going on this week.

Posted some games from today ... a rather mild slate overall, relatively speaking, despite having six top-25 teams in action plus a number of other potentially NCAA tournament teams. But most games feature either a heavy favorite or two teams with virtually no chance of making the NCAAs.
 
Michigan State has had a bit of an up and down season, but they're happily coasting at Happy Valley right now.

MSU at 5-5 is stuck right in the middle of the Big Ten standings, tied for 7th with Nebraska (7-7) and Rutgers (3-3). It is CRAZY how wildly the number of games played varies from team to team.
 
Midway through the 1st up in the Hills of Virginia... High Point has raced to a 16-4 lead over the mighty Highlanders of Radford. Keep up this play.. and HPU might show up again in a BY poll.

Cellar battle in the WAC, 0-6 Tarleton vs. 0-6 Chicago St. Somebody is gonna get a W!
 
HPU stumbles a bit in the end of the quarter... still leads 30-9. 7-8 on three pointer's.
 
Kansas St. gets their first conference win today against Kansas. 1-10. That's hard to believe. They were a good program once upon a time.
 
Creighton beat Seton Hall. Oops, bad loss for the Hall.
 
Idaho leading Idaho St. by 2 early in Q4.

Idaho ran away from Idaho St. down the stretch, 73-56 final. First conference loss for ISU, only 1 game up on Montana St. now w/ those 2 due to meet for a pair of games soon.
 
Weird game for Gonzaga. Allowed 11 (not a misprint) points in the first half, then 24 in Q3, while only scoring 12 themselves, to make a game of it. Pulled away in Q4 for a 67-50 win over Santa Clara.
 
Missouri St. was down 4 to Illinois St. w/ about 30 seconds left, but has scored 5 straight in less than 10 seconds. It seems like they have a knack for these last second come backs.
 
Missouri St. does it again. Inbounded w/ 4 seconds left, really bad looking falling backward shot w/ defenders in her face, couldn't even see the basket, but it found it's way in for a 73-72 win.


edit--drew a lot of contact, really should've been either a block or a charge, but refs chicken out and swallow the whistle.


edit #2--they did call a foul; missed the FT w/ 1.4 seconds left, Illinois couldn't get a shot up; 73-72 MSU wins
 
So Missouri St. outscored Illinois St. 7-2 in less than 30 seconds down the stretch. What a monumental collapse by the Redbirds.
 
High Point gets the weekend sweep vs Radford with a 79-58 victory. UNC-G gets the weekend sweep vs Furman with 58-50 victory. NCA&T improves to 8-1 with a 87-57 arse kicking over its bitter rival NC Central.

I'm seeing UCLA @ Colorado on Sunday 2/14 being postponed. I wonder which side this is coming from? Both played on Friday. USC @ Utah is still showing on the schedule, the previous opponents for these 2.

USC beat Utah handily (ran away w/ a 22-7 4th quarter) and seems to have a fairly solid grip on 5th in the Pac 12 now. Shalexxus Aaron seems like she's been injured for forever, but she's been playing very well for them recently. Utes stink this year. They've got 10th place locked up.
 
Creighton beat Georgetown 42-41 today. Are we sure these are D1 teams? :rolleyes:

ICYMI Creighton hammered Nebraska, whose Division I status I haven't heard impugned yet.
