I'm not sure you should hold that against a coach in this modern era, because so many players come and go from most programs.Regarding Coach Yo not getting respect, for me, it's that I don't recall her having much success developing her own recruits over the transfers she brings in.
Players do come and go, but who has she recruited that has had any impact on her teams? Genuine question.I'm not sure you should hold that against a coach in this modern era, because so many players come and go from most programs.
I honestly can't think of anyone. That's my point though. There are other programs that get most of their talent thru the portal. I think some coaches really do look at recruiting Fr. and trying to teach them to be good basketball players as a waste of time.Players do come and go, but who has she recruited that has had any impact on her teams? And there have been discussions as to whether that is a successful model (e.g. TCU). Then there are others like UConn, Maryland, etc., who can do both. Personally I think that's the better model.I honestly can't think of anyone. That's my point though. There are other programs that get most of their talent thru the portal. I agree I think supplementing your team thru the portal is better than being almost completely dependent on it. But only a very small handful of schools are capable of bringing in anything even in the neighborhood of the kind of talent UConn gets thru recruiting out of HS. So trying to do what UConn does is a non starter for almost everybody else. And there have been discussions as to whether that is a successful model (e.g. TCU). Huh? Plenty of programs can. I just listed UConn and Maryland because they were the first two that came to mind.I agree I think supplementing your team thru the portal is better than being almost completely dependent on it. I'm saying only a few programs can get talent similar to what UConn does. Anybody can go out and recruit Fr. and try to develop them.Huh? Plenty of programs can. I just listed UConn and Maryland because they were the first two that came to mind.
