Week 10 CFB

Oof, USC-Washington is off to a bad start. Trojans have squandered excellent field position twice already, while UW has shot themselves in the foot about half a dozen times and we're only midway thru Q1. Somehow the Dawgs are up 3-0. Both teams look terrible.

Georgia is not that good or Florida is a lot better than we thought. The playoffs are going to be really fun this year. I'll be rooting for Indiana. Really hope they disrupt the scene.
I believe it is that Florida is better than we thought. Unfortunately, their QB Lagway left the game in 2nd quarter with injury and transfer from Yale had to play.

But Florida still has games against Texas, LSU, Ole Miss and FSU. Not much hope for them except against FSU which lost to North Carolina today and only has 1 win.

Watching South Carolina against A&M now and SC scored first. Tough atmosphere in Columbia but expect A&M to win.

Jeez, SMU receivers have broken two tackles or 3rd and long for huge gains because Pitt didn't wrap up. The second WR did an amazing job of not having knees touch turf. If SMU wins this, those two plays will likely be the difference as both drives should've been dead.

This Pitt-SMU game has potential to turn ugly. Pitt FG kicker Sauls just missed his first kick of the year. SMU's next play is a 71-yard TD run. SMU 21-3 early in 2d half.

Louisville is thumping Clemson 26-7 end of Q3.

Tale of two halves in Seattle. Huskies dominated first half and were up 20-7. Instantly flipped in Q3, Trojans up 21-20 and have all the momentum. This has been one heck of a frustrating season for UW. Might go from being in the Championship Game to not even bowl eligible.

Florida is playing better, but Napier is going to regret not going for two at the end of the Tennessee game. He may have been able to save his job if he had that one.

Whoa, Washington responds w/ a TD drive (missed 2 point conversion), then got a goal line stand. 26-21 UW, about 5 minutes left.

How does that happen? Washington w/ a 3rd and 1, pick up the first down and you probably ice the game. Time out USC. After the time out...Washington gets an illegal substitution penalty? That is just mind boggling. Then on 3rd and 6 they go the wrong direction 1 yard. This team is just about impossible to watch, too frustrating.

Huh. Washington D comes up with another 4th down stop. Dawgs win 26-21.

How long til Lincoln Riley gets fired? Last 2 years have been disastrous for USC. He was supposed to be a home run hire, but something didn't quite work out.

Good point and now UF is down to 3rd string QB so don't expect much from Florida now.

Tough week for favorites as A&M is going down 44-20 to South Carolina. I expected tough game as SC should have beat LSU earlier this season by A&M's turnovers were costly.

Buyout is north of 60MM

Nah - we get smoked if Warner is healthy for that game
Nah - we don't. And that's my point. People need to start to respect and enjoy what we've accomplished so far this year. Instead, it's been a steady blend of "the other team sucked" and "if that one player was available, we would have gotten smoked"...

Indiana is sure winning by a lot. If they were "The" university or some such they would be #1.
I suspect they’ll be top 5 in the CFP rankings on Tuesday.

They are hurt by not having played the toughest schedule. Best win is probably Washington.

We were 1-0 that week!! Another undefeated season..er week.

To UconnDan97's point. On the Indiana board, are their fans lamenting the fact that their so far undefeated season is tarnished by a less than tough schedule? They might be punished in the polls, but if they win out, they'll get a chance to prove what they are made of, with all those "weak schedule" wins. We beat Rice. Rice lost to UConn.

Surprisingly, I don't agree that Warner wouldn't have had a major impact in the game if he had played. He's not a Heisman caliber but he has shown tons of promise.

But I am going to a do an exercise here, and instead of making an irrational cheerleader argument like you did, I am going to make a better argument for you.

College football is a sport where you play 12 games and try to win as many as possible, based on your record and a bunch of subjective beauty pageant criteria you get assigned to a bowl to play in.

Your record is the sum of your results and is mostly dictated by your performance and that is driven by decisions the team makes.

In this case Rice, in previous games for whatever reason, couldn't keep Warner healthy enough. Other defenses have been hammering him. So they gave him the night off because he was so banged up. Performance and Decisions.

You see, it simply doesn't matter that he didn't play. They weren't a good enough to keep him healthy, and the coaches didn't have a QB or a plan to make up for it.

It doesn't matte that they lost to us and beat Navy. Navy might not be that good, but really Rice is only good if all of the pieces fall into place, and in this sport you have to be able to win when the pieces don't fall into place.
