I would think we do due to losing to the better team, but that's only a hunch. If we beat St. John's and then we both win out, St. John's gets the top seed in the BET, correct?

I was at that game. Wasn’t there a big snowstorm the night before? I recall standing in Coach’s with my snow boots on. Pitt had that big guy that just killed us. Was it Blair?Pitt 2009, both teams 24-2 afterwards.
I did not enjoy that game
I think the relevant tiebreaker would be record vs. common opponents, starting with the top of the standings. If they're both 2-0 against Nova, then it goes to the 4th place team (likely SHU.) If they are both 2-0 there, then it goes to Creighton, which is where SJU wins the tiebreaker.I would think we do due to losing to the better team, but that's only a hunch.
That makes sense. Although logic would suggest losing to the better team is the higher quality loss. I guess the counter is having the higher quality win.I think the relevant tiebreaker would be record vs. common opponents, starting with the top of the standings. But can anyone confirm this?

I vaguely remember Fox main channel had the game, but did a horrible job promoting it. They pushed like #24 Illinois at #19 Michigan St commercials all week for the 8p game.I think people are using the result of the Marquette game to downplay it, it was #1 vs #4 and the two best teams in the conference
Yes DeJuan Blair, he and Sam Young were on fireI was at that game. Wasn’t there a big snowstorm the night before? I recall standing in Coach’s with my snow boots on. Pitt had that big guy that just killed us. Was it Blair?
It was a huge game and a great time, and the fans did their part. But no one thought we might lose and we virtually never trailed. There is a certain urgency to this game like there was vs. Nova in 22. I expect a lot of energy in PBA arenaI think people are using the result of the Marquette game to downplay it, it was #1 vs #4 and the two best teams in the conference
Yea they predetermined before the season who got the primetime slot that day, think it was Mich st vs Michigan. UConn vs Marq was on Fox during the afternoon slot.I vaguely remember Fox main channel had the game, but did a horrible job promoting it. My interpretation of the thread is about hype and anticipation heading into the game, not how the game played out.It was a huge game and a great time, and the fans did their part. I see what you are saying. If the Marquette game was close XL would have been thunderous. I hope we get a similar result Wednesday. My interpretation of the thread is about hype and anticipation heading into the game, not how the game played out.
Correct. “Most Anticipated Game in Hartford, since when?” would also suffice. My interpretation of the thread is about hype and anticipation heading into the game, not how the game played out.
It depends what Providence and Creighton do the rest of the way. Right now, Creighton is way ahead, which is good for St. John's. If those two teams finish tied in BE, we would win the tiebreaker in all likelihood (NET rating, which we are way ahead in and in this hypothetical we beat St. John's so they're unlikely to bridge the gap). If Providence is ahead we auto win the top BET seed.If we beat St. John's and then we both win out, St. John's gets the top seed in the BET, correct?
I was there , the place was shaking from the noise , The Cuse game was just as loud .Georgetown 1990 😉
Wouldn’t that be something - us becoming PC fans.It depends what Providence and Creighton do the rest of the way. Right now, Creighton is way ahead, which is good for St. John's. In our benefit, Providence has some decently easy games left. If we beat St. John's on Wednesday and Providence beats Xavier at home on Tuesday, then Providence at Creighton becomes a massive game for tiebreaker purposes and we'd be rooting for Providence.
I have the Courant "1 and 1" headline before that game framed.I was at that game. That was the first time in UConn's program they had ever been ranked #1 and they played that game in front of a national audience on CBS only to get their ass destroyed. Kerry Kittles' 37 point performance was one of the best individual performances I had ever seen at a UConn venue, Gampel or Hartford, ever and that includes UConn players. He destroyed Ray Allen in that game.
