Why doesn't Uconn provide free transportation and tickets to the students for the XL Center games? It would make the atmosphere so much better. I don't care if it costs money.

Friday night vs. Maine is a tough sell for students. Decently full not on the endzones though. Maybe if the bus stuck around and let the students have some fun in the city after the game that'd be a decent selling point.

Still it's pretty sad we can't get at least 12k on a Friday night. Also, it seems like we've been under reporting (i.e. reporting people through the gate rather than tickets sold) lately. The football game vs. RU was the same way. I assume there were alot more tickets distributed than used for both games.

Talk about a glass half-empty attitude. There were more people in the sideline 200's for a December cupcake game than I remember for a while. There's some momentum brewing. I think the Stanford game will be rocking.

Final weekend to party/study. Finals begin Monday so it was never going to be a good showing.

Write a check. Start a fundraising drive. Find a company to sponsor it.

Yeah, I've only been hearing this song and dance for about 20 years. Put up or shut up.

I know it's a tough game to get students there but give them free tix and bus ride, won't they come then. I like the XL Center because it's 12 minutes away. And the cupcake game at Gampel aren't great turnouts either, but the students make the difference at Gampel. Wouldn't they come for free?

It's not a glass half empty tude. After a great win Monday, I just think the school could pony up for free rides and tix for the students.

It costs four dollars for a student to take the SUBOG transport to a game.

If four dollars is keeping them back on campus, f--- 'em.
I didn't know that.

.-.
It's not the price of the ticket, it's the fact that you have to buy them 48 hours in advance.

I didn't realize that they had imposed such Draconian conditions on their cheap transportation - it's almost like the sadistic bastards want to know how many buses they're going to need prior to each game.

Also the student section at XL is 10 seats wide at the front vs 32 for Gampel, so it's not even theoretically possible to have as good a student section there. Plus the sightlines are shit after the first two rows at XL.

Of course, I'm not saying it's dumb, it's perfectly rational. That doesn't mean it's not a barrier to attending an XL game.

It's a very low barrier.

Everything could have been free and easy tonight and the crowd is likely the same.

It's a crappy game on a crappy Friday night at the end of the semester.

The students didn't show up because they're not crazy.

they need to turn the heat down in that building tonight too, it was very stuffy in there.

.-.
If I were a student I wouldn't go to see them play UMaine on a Friday

I'm a student currently, and I know dozens of regulars at the games that are in studying for finals all weekend, including myself. I can't speak for the other games but that was a major reason for this one.

It is stupid to continue to have games at the civic center. Atmosphere is horrible there.

My at home TV crowd was also a low turnout event. Hell I was lonely but I wasn't about to offer free beer.

well, now I've heard it all. Students who go to college to study. take classes & get good grades???? Things sure have changed. ;)

In games such as this where you know its not going to be a gate buster. Why not make a game time decision and allow for the youth of Hartford to enter and view the game at no cost to them. This would assure that all seats are filled and also provide the unfortunate whom in most cases can't afford to see the game access to watch our Huskies.
And please I do not want to hear what about the people whom are donors or who have purchased the packages.
