Despite the fact that two of our best scorers, Lamb and Napier, are in an epic shooting slump, Drummond has shown that while he may be an eventual NBA player, right now he's a freshman, and Boatright is starting just his second game, we played pretty well in the first half.

However, once the flood gates opened, our lack of offense and accompanying lack of confidence doomed us. We just had no response and it got out of control. Nonetheless, Alex played pretty well, Boatright showed improvement and the defense was real good in the first half. Actually, everyone played pretty well in first half except for our ability to shoot. We're not dead.

Does anyone know if Giffey was hurt? He played just 3 minutes . . . .

Also, I think Olander should've played more, side by side with AO. When he was in there, he played with nice emotion.

This team is too young and delicate for Blaney to coach.

While I agree with most of what the OP stated, this team isn't going anywhere without it's true leader (Calhoun)

yeah, olander played well other than not boxing out, missing some open jumpers and not rotating on defense.

I was happy going into half time. I was thinking we survived a little run and showed some signs of life on offense.

Man was I wrong.

Fool that I am, I actually had high hopes going into halftime w/ a 5pt deficit.

Somehow I missed the first minute of the 2nd half & when I walked back into the room we were down 34-24.
It just got ugly after that: wheels popped off their axles, transmission gone, a tarp blew onto the windshield, and the brakes went......

I want to know what the hell was said at halftime. Whatever GB said, don't ever say it again!!!

The wheels came off when no one recognized that their guards were leaking after every shot and we sent no one back. This led to that dunkfest which caused the game to become a shitshow.

It started with that poor 3 attempt by Napier to end the first which made it a 5 not 3 point game.

The second half was really simple, Pitino saw something and made adjustments, Blaney didn't or the players didn't listen to Blaney (I don't know which).

I mean that's what started it, then UConn players gave up when it was 35-25 with 18 minutes left or so.

This is what I saw too. That is not that much to be down with almost a whole half to go, and I couldn't believe it. I believe if there was more fight right there, at 10 down, we would have seen a completely different game. Obviously, I understand feeling crushed when it's more than 20 with little time left, but 5 shots? Seriously? I firmly believe that 99% of basketball is between the ears.

Agreed I was saying the same thing. SN takes a bad shot, long rebound and fast break hoop and all of a sudden we are down 5 right before halftime. Just several minutes before UConn was winning. Its like a bad chain reaction - one thing leads to another and then they are down 10, etc ....
