We should press a bit each half

Can't do either if you shorten the bench.
The shortened bench from last game came at a strange time. I dont question the staffs decision, it simply looks odd when against tougher non-cons he had several different lineups running all game but against PC he ran basically a 6 man rotation

I dont expect that to continue

I don’t think that was the intention, but the play of some of the rotation players (Smith, Reibe, Solo) and Ross clearly not being ready to go kind of forced Hurley’s hand that game. I don’t anticipate that be a regular thing.

Agreed and when Jayden is back we have the depth to play more pressing defenses.

Our lead guard has problems staying on the floor as it its, now you want him to press too? Doesn't work for a team that puts the opposition in the double bonus with many minutes remaining each half.

We have the depth to press, we don't have the discipline to press.

If you plan for success you have to plan to solve the discipline problem along the way. If that problem doesn't get solved, not being able to press is the least of our concerns. This team won't have a chance at the final four, let alone the championship without discipline. Hell, they probably don't get past the sweet 16. If that problem gets solved, a lot of things open up.

It was an odd game on so many levels. I wouldnt set anything in stone from that one except for the fact that Silas and Bray have taken an extra leap

I think Hurley just presses when he needs to speed the other team up. I think that is why we saw it at Providence. We needed possessions and turnovers to close the gap, and it worked. I could see going to it for that reason certainly or even just to show a different look for a few game minutes.

Malachi and Riebe played, but not the kind of minutes they normally do. If a kid is off a bit, their minutes are going to get clipped in a dogfight game. Ross was first game back from hamstring issues and this wasn't the game to work him back in.

We don't have a small, quick team so I don't think we should/could effectively press for turnovers. Silas, Alex, Stewart, Reed and Reibe. Even Mullins is 6'6" and we don't need his shooting legs tired out any.

I could see using a press like PC did last game where it stalls the other team from starting their halfcourt offense, cutting 10 seconds off the shot clock. Pitino did the same thing last year to us.

We need a lot of work on our press. #5 on PC burned us multiple times when we tried it. We got lucky with the own-strip

What team do you follow?

What is going on around here?
