That is counting the 2000 final four as part of this century. And it's actually 20.83%, (5 of 24). Regardless, it's a darn impressive number. Surprising good when you put it in perspective.

I heard a bunch of talking heads referring to this stat (not as exact to the decimal) but the thing that shocked me is that they were all shocked themselves. One podcast said "the blue bloods decided to let the never-beens have their shot at a ring" when referring to the elite 8. People don't know, it seems. It's like the moment when you realize how many hits the band Chicago actually has

But a lot of their hits sucked. Chicago was at their best way before the sappy Peter Cetera sappy movie ballads.

Oh 100% Terry Kath was a guitar God. But, I do have a soft spot for 'hard habit to break' even though i don't love David Foster.

I'm not sure what type of math it is that you are using to count the 1999 final four as happening in 2000 but if it helps the mojo, I like it. You however slso are obviously not one of board math nerds.

It's a typo, we have only been to 5 FF this century. 5-24. I got too excited. I just went back and changed to OP.
Either way. It's still 6 in 24 years. 5 in the 2000s.

Who cares about the math. That's 2 more than Kansas. 2 more than UCLA. The same as Duke. Same as Kansas. 1 less than UNC.

Not sure what other considerations you need to be in that "blue blood" group. Whatever it is - UConn's done that, over 3 coaches now.

I didn't do any such thing. We have been to five final fours this century. 2004, 2009, 2011, 2014 and 2023.

Learn your UConn history!! This is hanging material.

Work almost 400 D1 schools into the calculation, Pythagoras, and you'll really have something.

More appropriately, we’ve been to 20.833333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333%

But even that is not completely correct

I prefer geek, but anyway, here's the breakdown:

6 final fours in the last 25 (count on your fingers if that's what it takes) - 24%
5 of the last 19 - 26%
5 in this century - 21%

Decimals on the end of percentages are definitely for nerds!

Ummm, 25 years… 6 Final Fours… 4 nattys

Chicago clearly could see the future. They sang about the good guys in 1970 - the last time there were three first-time Final Four participants. Hopefully, the title of the song doesn’t match up next Monday before midnight.

According to the rest of men’s basketball, 100% of the 6 final fours we have been to have been pure luck, with the easiest of regions, with horrible coaches no one would want. Wondering if it will take another 6 before we earn one.

Holy ****. What just happened here? My head just exploded. Incredible. Pure Genius! (And a great Terry Kath solo)

6 in the last quarter century ...3 head coaches. THAT is the definition of a program
