We have 15 players. So who gets the minutes? Break it down into three sections with whom you think will get the most to the least. This is based on no player being injured or taking a red shirt year. I believe that all of us will agree on who the top two are.

1) Sarah Strong
2) Azzi Fudd
3) KK Arnold
4) Serah Williams
5) Ashlynn Shade

6) Kayleigh Heckel
7) Jana El Alfy
8) Blanca Quinonez
9) Ice Brady
10) Caroline Ducharme

11) Morgan Cheli
12) Ayanna Patterson
13) Allie Ziebell
14) Kelis Fisher
15) Gandy Malou-Mamel

Once Geno decides who to start, his pattern has been to use that group as the core of the players that get most of the time. It's likely that Azzi, Sarah, and Serah will be the centerpieces; the second and third starters will move around more and play less overall.
Right now, we do not know who will play point, but a couple of players will probably split time. The most intriguing position is who will be the starting forward because there are several strong candidates. They, too, may rotate and share minutes.
Again, once Geno decides his starting 5, that group will get the bulk of the minutes.
Problem: some worthy players will not get as much playing time as they'd like because the roster is so loaded.

Everyone who practices well and stays out of the doghouse (or gets the injury bug) will eat. I look forward to seeing how Geno manages it this season. It will go a long way for future recruiting to show what UConn will do with a stacked roster.

I know many folks don't like the idea, but in addition to the normal substitutions, I'd be curious to see a complete second or third unit to come into games just to change the temperature......

Just an illustrative WAG based on a crude simplest complexity parametric model I doodled with way before the OOC schedule came out.

The model has 3 types of opponents, and for each opponent, a 4-point histogram probability distribution of competitive minutes was modeled.

Competitive minutes assumptions are based on my subjective feel for each players mix-match importance in a 40-minute game. Garbage minutes reflects Geno’s proclivity of mixing rotation players with reserves for part of garbage time.

Geno and CD has had the early TASSK years precedents (where minutes were relatively flatter) for managing a stacked roster.

I have no idea what to think about playing time, other than that by February there will be a group that gets ~25 mins and probably another that gets ~15. Who is in each group will probably evolve throughout the season, as well as how many play in each group. November-December (and maybe part of January) is experiment time, and February is solidification time.

What really catches my eye is your three groups, or more precisely, the second group. I don’t know why, but I’m really intrigued by a lineup of Kayleigh Blanca Caroline Ice and Jana. I don’t know if this lineup will ever see the floor together. But it’s kind of fun to picture what they’ll be like. It’s not a very quick group outside of Kayleigh and Blanca. Still it’s got a lot of confidence and court savvy. Perimeter shooting is not very strong beyond Caroline, and it’s not loaded with scorers. But this may be good for Jana and Ice. They were scorers in high school and maybe a lineup like this would free them up to take more chances and rediscover their old selves. And a lot would depend on Kayleigh to make this lineup work.

With Geno’s well known preference for returning players, I’d be surprised if the starters weren’t KK, Fudd, Shade, Serah, Sarah. KK’s performance in each game will dictate the minute split with Kayleigh, as will Serah’s with Jana. The wing reserve spots are wide open, in close games there won’t be that many minutes there. Sarah will come out when she needs rest or is in foul trouble, as will Azzi.

I will be totally shocked if Morgan is not in a rotation of 10. She seems like the perfect sub for Sarah, a role that she excelled at last year. This of course depends on her health.

ConnMotors- - -I agree with what you have above:
1) Sarah Strong
2) Azzi Fudd
3) KK Arnold
4) Serah Williams
5) Ashlynn Shade

6) Kayleigh Heckel
7) Jana El Alfy
8) Blanca Quinonez
9) Ice Brady
10) Caroline Ducharme

11) Morgan Cheli
12) Ayanna Patterson
13) Allie Ziebell
14) Kelis Fisher
15) Gandy Malou-Mamel

But I think Blanca and Caroline could seriously cut into Ashlynne Shade's minutes by the middle of the season!
Blanca's athletic ability and Caroline's BB IQ could be helpful in attaining more minutes!
