It has looked to me that we lack energy and when you lack energy its a sign you need to rest. Over the past few games we look like we cant go like we were going a week ago. We are not there right now. IMO the first thing we need is to get our minds off basketball for a while. I would not practice on Thursday or Friday. We need the rest to have a chance moving forward. If we dont rest now we are not going to play any better moving forward.

I know SC is on Sunday and I will be there. But if we dont take a break now when do we take that break and get some rest. With our schedule moving forward it wont happen. All we keep hearing is we're mentally and physically exhausted. Hey no practice for 2 days and maybe go to the movies or play cards just to get our minds off basketball. Their bodies know what to do. A couple of days off wont make us play any worst. A couple of days off will clear our minds and rest our bodies. Yeah its SC and we wanna win but our health moving forward is what we need to focus on now. We wont beat SC without resting right now.

The beating we've been taking every game has taken its toll on us. You saw it the past few games. Lou and Aaliyah have played every game and alot of minutes and its beginning to show. Look at their last two games. They need a rest. Their past 2 games they havent been the same. IMO they lack energy and that means they need time off from the game.

Their bodies know what to do and if their bodies and minds have a couple of days off they will respond. Every game from here on out is going to be physically and mentally exhausting. Its not going to get any better it will get worse if we dont take some time to rest. Geno said on his show that theyve cut practices back to about an hour and 25 minutes. We are at a point right now where we need alot of rest and with our schedule thats not gonna happen. So take practice off for 2 days and come back on Saturday for a short practice and shoot around and come into the SC rested. Our schedule has been a Marathon not a sprint.

Let me end with this. Caroline and Azzi will not be ready for a while yet so dont count on them bailing us out. Our schedule is not going to change any time soon so dont count on that. We are not in a good place right now. The only answer is Rest Now because we need it.

The last 3 to 4 games have been especially physical in nature!
The refs have eithe forgot how to blow their whistles or called every touch a foul!
Mostly no whistles!
Our opponents have beaten the crap out of our girls! Pushing, pulling, holding and no wonder we've been mentally & physically beat!
I agree 100% with Tonyc. taking 2 days off then regular practice Saturday.
Think outside the box! It can't hurt to try it!
The truth is if both SoCar & UCONN were at full strength with Azzi, Paige, Ice, Caroline Ducharme, Edwards, Dorka, Lou, Nika, Aubrey, Ines, Patterson, & Amari, available, UCONN would beat SoCar by 25+ points but that is not the reality!
So let's force the players to relax their minds and the bodies and see how that effects their play!
I bet it improves everyone's play!!

Spot on, @Tonyc, the team looked like they were playing in quicksand last night. Physically, and probably mentally they are drained to the core!

On our schedule: looking forward a bit

Last regular season game...home to Xavier on Monday February 27.
Big East tourney starts Friday March3...ends with championship game on Monday March 6.
We will have Friday off due to our high seed...so....4 days off after Xavier.

After the BE finals we will have about 10-11 days off before game one in The Dance.
Sounds like ample rest will be available...just hope Azzi and Caroline get in enough
minutes to sharpen conditioning and skills...even if they come off the bench in March we will need offense when
starters go out,,,,our current bench almost seems to avoid that contribution.

Plus: for the rest of our regular season schedule we seem to alternate between 2 days off between games....3 days off...and one 4 day period.,,,,should help!

Aaliyah looked absolutely exhausted, mentally as well as physically, against PC. It's gotta be tough, every night getting banged around by mostly bigger players, with no one available to spell her.

It's not just the banging, it's the running, jumping, mental focus and playing 5 games in 12 days. Just not conducive to being ready for the biggest game of the year. We had to add in the DePaul game and we had scheduled Tennessee and South Carolina 10 days apart with 2 league games in between. It seems like the biggest adversary we have this season besides bad luck is our schedule.
