BIGGEST TRAP GAME FOR EVERY TOP 25 COLLEGE FOOTBALL TEAM IN 2013

17. Michigan
Matchup: At Connecticut
When: Sept. 21
Where: Rentschler Field, East Hartford, Conn.
Michigan will be two weeks removed from its intense matchup against Notre Dame and looking forward to a bye week after a trip to Connecticut. Wait. A trip to where?
Rentschler Field only holds 40,000 people, and the Huskies are mostly known for basketball. They actually have a football team? Yes, and they return 13 starters from a team that upset Louisville 23-20 last season.
The Huskies don't do anything flashy, but they do a wonderful job of grinding out games and making it tough on their opponent. If Connecticut comes out swinging in front of its home crowd, this game could result in an upset.

What would be great (besides kicking the ---- out of them) would be if the Huskies did do things flashy, if they abandoned entirely the "grinding out games" approach and came out swinging in front of its home crowd by scoring, scoring and scoring some more - like it was arena football. Let's start having some excitement at Rentschler and stop watching the clock (and wanting it to run out) in the first quarter if UConn should put up three points early on. Geez, let's hope UConn football can be fun and exciting.

Well what kind of hosts would we be if we didn't give them a "warm reception"?

This is a type of game where we have absolutely nothing to lose as the entire world expects us to get beat something along the lines of 50-3. Pull out all the stops (not the having Whitmer line up at wideout stops) and just go for it.

I missed you during the offseason. Which shows what it was like around here.

Sounds like a certain team in yellow might get punched in #$king mouth that day...

p.s.
No. No I don't say the word "maize" unless I'm talking about corn and Pilgrims...

Boom! The crowd will be jacked up but there will also be a fair share of yellow in the stands. Electric atmosphere like no other...man I can't wait until the season starts!

When we hired P he had a reputation for winning the big games. At Cuse he won some big games, and even during last year's disappointing season I'd say he won our two "biggest" games, which I think were @Maryland (ACC team/old coach) and @Louisville (top ten team and BE standard bearer is always tough at home). P's the anti-Edsall in that respect. Edsall won the games he was supposed to and lost the ones he was supposed to with amazing regularity. P drops games that should be automatic but pulls off some upsets. The yin and the yang. I think the old guy will get us this one too.

I'm really not sure why you'd be hot and bothered about being identified as someone's potential trap game.

Back to back 5-7 seasons tempers expectations.

Really the premise is you are so lightly regarded the opponent might show you so little respect you might win... How exciting.

Agree - I actually misread your post. I read it in my mind as "I'm really not sure why you'd be your not hot and bothered about being identified as someone's potential trap game."

Michigan may never have a trap game again after Applesauce State.

You're a Rutgers fan who has lost his way. Please take this very personally. It's almost football season and I despise Rutgers and anyone associated with them.

You Nicky, are no friend of UConn football...so say good bye and go to your room...Nicky.

Isn't the premise of a trap game that the team that is heavily favored is looking past the perceived weaker opponent to the next week's much stronger opponent?

If Michigan has a bye week, the week after they play us, then......? :)

I checked the lines last year and we went into one of our bye weeks as 9.5 point underdogs.

Why do I feel like I'm back in Jr High? Thanks for showing me how classy the bottom tier of the fanbase is(sportsfart) and wish you guys(sportsfart) the best fortune in the AAC and hope to see you get everything your attitudes (some) deserve! Its unreal to think fans of UConn with all their real hopes and dreams on the line will take the time to be so negative to those who wish them well? It just goes to show that just cause your a UConn fan doesn't mean you have too have class!See you at RU's final (for now) game at the "Rent" and wish the real fans the best of luck!!
