And not many whistles. We would have 20 fouls called in this half playing the way they are. They have 5-6 each with 8 minutes left in 2nd half.
can we accept that our defense IS atrocious, and that is the cause of some of the fouls, and the refs were lousy? And not many whistles. We would have 20 fouls called in this half playing the way they are. They have 5-6 each with 8 minutes left in 2nd half.
Yes Memphis was underrated.Refs with a bad foul call on 3 pt shot. A Memphis win will make our loss feel a little better, they’re good
This is likely to continue until Hurley sits down and shuts up. Calling them out in the press conference is going to piss off more than just the refs in that game. It wasn’t called fairly at all.I'm sorry, but Memphis only has 1/4 as many free throws as last night.
10 to 40.
Im perfectly willing to accept that the UConn defense is not very good. But this is a huge anomaly.
They were calling fouls last night that weren't fouls at all!
About the early schedule, say we set up a game with Colorado. Or Memphis. It likely would've looked like the last 2 days, with different refs. This is likely to continue until Hurley sits down and shuts up. But I still think the terrible early schedule contributed to these losses. We came in arrogant and overconfident. They are only now figuring out what the lineups need to be because nobody exposed the prior lineup.
Arrogant? I sure hope not. Definitely ill-prepared though and maybe over confident. This is likely to continue until Hurley sits down and shuts up. Calling them out in the press conference is going to piss off more than just the refs in that game. It wasn’t called fairly at all.

Saying back to back champs deserve a better whistle is arrogant.Arrogant? I sure hope not. Definitely ill-prepared though and maybe over confident.
Not necessarily. It can also be the sign of someone who sees the patterns over the past 4 decades of the top teams getting favorable whistles (at worst, benefit-of-the-doubt whistles), and expecting the pattern to continue. Granted, we have now shown we’re not a top team (yet), but we certainly were expected to be. And Hurley is someone who expects consistency from everyone. That’s also not to argue whether Hurley is arrogant lol.Saying back to back champs deserve a better whistle is arrogant.
Why stop? K did it for years… Geno and Jim too. Oddly after title 2 I get the feeling. Pay the fine and call em out!!!! But let’s say less than half were bad calls. That is still like 20+ and despite our play and defense the foul line is what beat us both games. We win by dbl digies in each if the fts were even 25% closer as we’d see a closer point gap and our guys would play tougher DThis is likely to continue until Hurley sits down and shuts up. Rewatched our game against them and a lot of that was acting and flopping. Our guys have to start drawing fouls against these teams also. We don’t do that at all.Whan are the refs going start blowing the whistle on all of Memphis's flops???
All I meant to say is there are in fact outlooks that might cause someone to see things this way, other than arrogance. In hindsight though, I guess to say that publicly as a coach, it gets kind of hard to separate and defend as anything but. When you don’t make the calls as you see them it’s borderline cheating!
It's a chicken and egg game now. Yes, the first game was abominably officiated, very lopsided. The second game, a little lopsided. Why? Well these refs all know those refs and collectively they are like guy, any doubt about a call is going to be resolved against him. That's really what we saw, obvious stuff was correct. Close calls? One way.Why stop? K did it for years… Geno and Jim too. Oddly after title 2 I get the feeling. Pay the fine and call em out!!!! But let’s say less than half were bad calls.
