Washington Mystics @ Atlanta Dream - 8/28/18

Slow game so far....neither team has broken out. Atlanta is just so athletic, but I think once Washington finds their rhythm they'll go up 2-0.
 
Tough game to watch. Strong defense to be sure but so many missed jumpers and free throws. EDD's jump shot is not falling but she is starting to make some tough shots in the paint. Only Bentley seems to have any offensive success for the Dream.

Forgot Lottery is at half time. The fix is in. Las Vegas is the darling of the WNBA so they will win top pick. ;)

They do have the second best odds. Watch the pained look on Laimbeer's face if they end up with #3 or worse.

Getting the 1st pick not that important in this draft. There is no player like Aja Wilson who was the clear #1. Liberty at #2 a nice surprise.

Is it me or is Ariel Atkins a different player in the Mystics system vs her time at Texas? Was Aston not using her abilities or was she out of position? Just curious. I mean she should have been an AA to me.

I have long suspected Aston didn’t know how to use her at Texas. Atkins has improved so much in the WNBA.

Edit. Atlanta clawing their way back into the game.Tied at 58 after 3Q. Breland a beast on the Defensive end.

Don't know, but she is a top-4 rookie. Very athletic and good from the arc.
 
Washington has EDD, and Atlanta doesn't. That may be the difference.

That video of EDD going down was AWFUL. That did not look good at all.
 
Yeah, her left foot slid several feet, and then she took a few more steps stumbling.

She got a standing ovation from the Atlanta crowd.

Huge win for Atlanta...EDD going down is absolutely crushing for Washington. She was playing at an extremely high level. I don’t think either of these teams have a prayer against Seattle (or Phoenix) in the finals.

I think Seattle is the team to beat, though they need to toughen up in 4th quarters.

It was looking as if EDD was the difference between the Mystics and the Dream. I hope her injury is not serious.
