Wasabi Fenway Bowl Game Post Game

And it never crossed his mind to change horses after it was clear that the one he chose to ride wasn't getting it done? Like Wake last year with Nick. Rode him right to the end of the game and the L With Joe right at his elbow all game.
And go with Tyler Smith, the freshman 5th string guy that didn’t get a single snap all year?

Coach Sammis said Skylar would play as long as he wanted to.
So he wanted to play one series!!!
All his talk about playing for his team what a joke.
Hard to reconcile what he said before the game about “finishing what he started”, practicing with the team and going to Boston …..and then only playing one play.
Can’t help but wonder what Skyler has to say about the reason for his decision.

Just unthawing. The D was completely blown off the line and dominated. Rosa was an utter disaster. Our 4th string QB played like it. Should have just let Cam run all day. What a waste of money and time. Never again.

Horrible game, but it’s not like I’m not looking forward to next year either so at least there’s that.

Try and keep key players (Edwards, Neider, Chadwick) and replenish with the portal. Rosa probably should rescind his choice to transfer.

Realistically, I feel positive for the program and don’t blame it for this but the constant instability in staff and players opting out like this discourages people from supporting. I can’t blame the program or AD for that specifically, I don’t know what else they can control but it is a feature of this era.

I'll be writing a note to Sammis thanking him for staying on, for the great job he did with this year's offense and complimenting him on how much he grew as a coach at UConn.
I think he's a future star (Parcells reborn....at least in body type) and let's hope his legacy of excellent line play can be maintained.

Our QB was so inept the first half that he probably singlehandedly drove Skyler Bell to the end of the bench. Passes that were uncatchable, passes six feet off the ground being batted down, etc
Maybe Farrar will show more next year with an intact line and skill guys all in sync, but he was thrown into an impossible situation today. He was the proverbial deer in the headlights.

I think Notre Dame was the brunt of a lot of jokes for opting out this year, but they probably got it right. I expect that next year will have a lot more universities following suit...
Take a look at what's happening with BYU right now...a team that was a borderline playoff team. This will absolutely be the trend moving forward and I don't think the conferences can do much to stop it.

Thank you for your comments Mrs Sammis

We were competitive in th first half despite rolling out a true freshman at QB who was obviously not ready to play at this level. The players came ready to play, but I think with how poorly Farrar performed today we stood no chance. Army is going to run the ball and control time of possession, you need to be able to keep your offense on the field and allow your defense to rest. Obviously not having your offense put up any points is kind of a gut punch to the defense as well. I think the D tried to stay in it mentally in the 2nd half but the writing was on the wall and it was probably tough for them to play their best game. Hence some of the poor tackling. Although shout-out to Godspower, not only for the awesome name but for the awesome running.

I obviously would have preferred to end the season on a high note. But I was mentally prepared for this outcome by the time the bowl had been announced since we had already lost Mora. It is what it is. Really excited for the Candle era (and portal season) to begin. The program is in good hands and we are still going to win games.

Of course Playing Bell would not have made a difference but to play one series then decide enough it’s a bad look. Especially after all his talk before the game.
While The Army QB played with 101 fever.
At least he was there unlike Fagnano and others who didn't show up to cheer the teammates on

Great season. 2 players with amazing season stats for any University.

Bowl season is a joke. UConn wasn’t close to the same team it was a month ago. College football is making itself smaller and they might end up regretting that.

Very excited about the future of UConn football.

Farrar had one really nice drive but I think this is what you get when you're essentially putting a third stringer out there that probably had few if any reps until a few weeks ago this season.

Also, I'm not really a fan of the hate Bell is getting. I didn't hear the full story but if he was willing to play to showcase his skills, he rightfully figured that he was not going to get an opportunity to do so today, so why risk injury? This isn't a "we have to hand it to him" comment, but I really don't get the flak he's getting when you boil it down to his future and what he needs to do to give himself the best shot there. And to be honest, Bell becoming a big time NFL player is worth way more to this program than winning this bowl game.

College football is completely broken. But our trend is still up.
Your right. It is so broken, that it may not be fixable by the

Sad to support your team all year, they make a bowl and can't compete because the key players are gone. IT MAKES NO SENSE....It is not just the Huskies facing this, but other teams as well I think there will be push back from fans .

UConn is really a one-deep team. The dropoff is STEEEEEP after our starters. I wasn’t going to bet any money that Evers was gonna light it up today, had he played.

So, Thankful we didn’t lose fagnano, bell and Edwards during the regular season this year. I have no choice but to see that positive.
