Let's look at the record.
APR waiver-Fail. Absolutely picked the wrong argument to make and earned zero good will with the NCAA while making it.
Calhoun replacement-even if you think the result was right, the process was a disaster. If you're going to fold like a $2 suitcase, just do it and save everyone the bad feelings.
Aurriema contract-Again, a needless mess that ended with Manuel caving after the Championship.
Conference Realignment-FAIL. Not even in the same solar system with a pass.
Rebranding-based on every survey, where 75-85% disapprove, I think you have to say Fail.
Basketball Center-pass.
Hockey East. Pass so far, but he still has an opportunity to grab defeat from the jaws of victory in the coaching select and the decisions on the rink. I don't put it past him.

How do you blame him for the APR ? He was not here for those years and it would not have made any difference what the school did the NCAA was looking to hang us. How can anyone comment on Geno's contract - are you his agent or lawyer ? Hockey - who would be your coach ?

Half of people in Connecticut see any new activity as something they can parasitize / exploit for their own personal gains, and half oppose anything new out of satisfaction with the way things are. There's a notable lack of energy devoting to building anything great. Calhoun and Auriemma brought it on a small scale; but you need more than one person to do it on a large scale, eg football or a great university.

It's not just CT. Here in PA we have the same problem. Anytime they try to update a field here at the high school or do some work on local infrastructure the grump old guy contingency comes out of the wood work and starts screaming about how back in their day they had to walk to school in the snow, up hill, with no shoes on, and did you know that they pay taxes. We actually lost a $250k grant because of it.

The NCAA didn't give a whether we were there or not. We totally bunged up our appeals by ticking off the appeals committees and making stupid arguments. As far as Hockey is concerned, I'd give the job to Barard.

You cannot market 5-7 and throwing away bowls 2 years in a row because you can't beat Western Michigan and Temple at home. That's 3 weeks early the season has ended 2 years in a row. That creates lack of interest. You cannot create "buzz" when a team plays an unappealing brand of football. No amount of marketing can create "buzz" with that hand to play.

Winning games brings people to the spring game and creates buzz. No amount of marketing can sell the last 2 seasons. They can try harder but winning on the field is the only sure fire way to help right now.

Absolutely correct. The last 2 seasons are on The HC for turning 8-4 into 5-7.
Blue has led a charmed life here, with his supposed great recruiting classes and his relationship with the crybaby coaches in CT. Someone as old as him should spend more time in FL, cozying up to FL HS coaches. I will not honor my commit for year 3 of the ticket agt for '14 if he runs us into the ground again this year and rockstar does not fire him.

I remember going nuts about KO and Geno. Most here sat on there hands. Then some started to see my side with KO stuff and eventually enough inside pressure got things done. More marketing hysteria. Every big time game for both the UConn men and women were sold out this year or were near sell outs.

College basketball season is never ending. Attendance is light at most places in December especially for cupcakes. College Basketball as a whole has been completely delegitmized by conference expansion and football. A 2nd tied bowl game got higher ratings than last seasons UNC vs Kentucky 1 vs 2 college hoops show down. The fact a school with 11 basketball NCAA titles is left on the sidelines after realignment shows in the grand scheme it means little to nothing.

More can be done but none of it will mean a damn thing if we repeat the last 2 seasons.

Winning is the most important factor in generating buzz, excitement, and increasing attendance. But the uconn pr, ticket sales, and marketing are frequently embarrassing. Take the Louisville game...3 hours prior to the game, I'm told its a sellout and will have to try buy tix at the XL box office. Then 30 min before tipoff, there's a tweet about 3000 tix being available. Don't even get me started about how long it actually took to get into the XL that night.
