Not basketball 101-more wishful thinking on your part and not correct. GT other 4 starters all shot the ball statistically better than Davis during both of her seasons in GT uniform. The disproportionate attempts in shot attempts for Davis was unconscionable at any level of Basketball-ie Bad Coaching. Dawn will try but sometimes a leopard CANNOT change their spots.

Well, let's compare her shooting percentage at the end of this upcoming season to what it was at GT. I will bet you dimes to doughnuts that it is considerably better.

Nine Phoenix Mercury players had better shooting percentages than DT this season. How many do you think are better players?

Define "considerable".

I edited my previous post, so I wanted to make sure you saw the addition. Nine Phoenix Mercury players have better shooting percentages that DT this season. How many of those player do you think are better players?

Quantify "considerable".
FYI Davis won the 3 Point shooting contest at the MacDonalds ALL-American game. She has the ability to shoot but the other finer points of the game like shot selection, passing and defense-FORGETABOUTIT!

Zero.

Uhm....
Kaela Davis FG% =36.4%, 3PFG% =28.9%. Not exactly what I'd call "lights out", but by all means "Bombs away Kaela -way to keep us in the game"- screams the opposing coach!
All the talent these 3 teams had last year and 2 lost in the Sweet 16 and 1 in the Elite 8. My point is just because you have talent does not make you a FF team. IMO all 3 coaches are overrated and only win because of the talent they have. Mulkeys undefeated team won because they had BG. She should have won 3. Staleys team was a top team 3 years in a row and lost to Syracuse in the S16. With the twin towers and Mitchell still couldnt win. McGraw allows Stanford to score over 90pts. Tara does it again. In 2001 ND beat Uconn because the Huskies played one of their worst halves ever in the FF and that is the only reason MM has a NC! WCBB is wide open this year and my pick for Favorite to win is ND but the 2 best coaches in the game dont coch at these 3 schools. They coach at Uconn and Stanford!

Bad comparison and if you want to compare. Do it from their college days and nobody and I do meen nobody won a WCBB NC like Diana did and she did it twice. As far as Davis it seems she is that type of offensive player who is a shoot first then pass. IMO she needs to mature and start idenifying good shots for herself. You are right about the good players around her but that only goes so far. Hopefully Dawn has watched film with her and that is what she has been working on.

Immaculata (sp?) was the team to beat when I started following women's basketball. I could not watch it because it was not on television in St. Louis. That was when the teams were in the AIAW.

Yeah, I remember going to the AIAW Championship in '73 on the Queens College Campus in NY. Immaculata won going away. Remember the nuns in the front row banging away on the pots with various kitchen implements. What fun!

Would love to see MW at Uconn but if she chooses another school I will still root for her and can't wait to see how her play develops. Westbrook was always rumored to stay on the west coast, but I don't know. The ND coaches flew back out to visit her after the official visit. I'm thinking ND and maybe they will go together . Crazy, can't wait to find out who's going where....

Hopefully you got to relive at least some of it from the movie Mighty Mac's

Westbrook is here in the DMV for her official visit at Maryland. This is Maryland's homecoming weekend.

haven't been following discussion here.... but Westbrook... man wouldn't it be great if she chose Oregon St...... that coach has built that program from NOTHING just several years ago.... when i think he went to the campus paper to solicit tryouts for the team.... he has come a long way and without primo recruits.... i hope he gets this gal

It would be interesting.. but Oregon State was in the Final Four last year so they no longer get to play that "everybody's favorite up-and-comer/loser" sympathy card. They are HERE. They are serious competition for any top 15 program and judging by how they recruit will continue to be so.

So no, it wouldn't be cool if Westbrook went to Oregon State. In fact, I would be alarmed.

;)

I'm only half kidding. :D

Here's my recruiting philosophy...............if UConn doesn't get em I say send them to the "Left Coast"!!!!!:D:D

Agreed. The final 4 team consisted of pretty much only 2 Top 100 players, I think Weisner was in the 40's and Weise in the 60's. Very impressive. He recently got a commit from a pretty good stretch 4's and he has some seem to recruit a few Top 50 players (mostly shooters), so if Westbrook goes there, she will be surrounded by shooters.

It would be great. IMHO he's one of the top 5 coaches in college ball (he's been around a while and has a pretty gaudy record). He's not recruiting as well as Oregon and Kelly Groves, but he does more with his players than anyone not named Geno. I'd love to see him get Westbrook.

I started watching 20 years ago. UCONN was the team to beat. Who is it now?

That's excellence for ya

When YOU started watching WBB ---La Tech, Tn, ODU, ND UConn were top dogs.
Now the only dogs still on top are ND and Uconn---TN never went through the bottom even with Holly they are knocking
on the door---and it isn't because they don't have the talent.. That's Excellence!

Geno's UC Team--that' PERFECTION

Oregon State just picked up Taya Corosdale #27 in HoopGurlz. Westbrook to OSU would be a great look IMO.

Of course you think that :D.. if Westbrook goes to OSU then you don't have to play against her every year, that wouldn't be the case if she goes to Notre Dame and possibly South Carolina.

;)

I love that idea for a number of reasons:

1. I am all for spreading the talent that Geno & staff isn't recruiting around.
2. This would be great for a gradually improving PAC 12... they are looking better and better as a conference ironically as Stanford (which was far and away the best team in the conference for like a decade) is in a decline.
3. I want to see who is the real deal Westbrook vs Ionescu, I'd watch that.

Hmmm, Notre Dame must really be in decline then ;)

I would say the PAC has risen as a group and Stanford still seems to be knocking off some big guns.

LOL.

This answer is exactly why I hope she goes to Notre Dame, SC or Tennessee and becomes a pain in UCONN's arse for a few years.

It is amazing how brave and bold WCBB teams & their fans are becoming in the Post Stewie era. So this going some where else and being a "pain" for UCONN how that working out for: A'Ja Wilson & SC, B.Turner & ND , A. Durr "ville, Diamond Deshields & The Entire SEC, Neka & her sister, KLS's older sisters, Xylinda McDaniels, Stephanie Mavunga, Taya Reimer, Sierra Calhoun and the entire Heart and Soul Duke Program, Kalani Brown, .......?

This space reserved for :Lauren Cox and any other recruit not willing to leave Texas.

I'm kind of thinking that bravery will turn tail after this year. Some perhaps during The Dance.

LOL. Oh come on now... you say this as if SC has been ducking and dodging UCONN for the past few years. Sure, we lost both times and the first game was hardly competitive, but give SC credit for being willing to play UCONN during a period of time when they had arguably their best player ever and their best point guard ever.

South Carolina played UCONN with Stewie, and Tuck, and Jefferson, and Mosqueda-Lewis..

Being bold isn't new in that regard, it was bold when SC agreed to the game a few years ago.

I would say it's working out well for A'ja Wilson. She's only a 1st-team All-American, Naismith POY finalist, SEC POY and DPOY, SEC Regular Season and Tournament Champion a few times over.... as a sophomore.

Wilson may not have hurt UCONN winning wise (so far of course, she still has two more years.. remember?).. but she's obviously still on the minds of the UCONN fanbase who never refuse the impulse to leave posts like this ("how is it working out for ____ at ____") whenever they want to nonchalantly dig at the fact that a specific player could've had two (or three or four) rings had they gone to UCONN instead.... which is fine when you all do this, but it kind of works against your point here because it makes it seem like you're still agonizing over her (pain in the arse) decision to not go to UCONN (even if you aren't).

As for the others, I'll allow their respective fanbases to come to their defense.

LOL. Again, Oh come on now. You guys seriously expect to get every elite recruit? There isn't a sport on this planet where every elite player ends up on one team. UCONN has had an impressive stranglehold on WCBB for the last 20 or so years, and that may well continue, but you can't blame the rest of us (non-UCONN fans) for being excited at the possibility that I might not...
