In the FREE Rivals article you may peruse:

Teddy Allmendinger, FB/LB (6-0 235), of Avon says that a majority of the 7 recent Diaco Walk-ons from 2/2015 will be Scholarship next year. That would be 4. Right?

Bisack, Coney, Anthony, Sowa, Jean-Pierre, Dexter, Tabur.

That's a dramatic Program change for UConn versus the last 12 years.

Yes. We have had success in the Edsall era with Walk Ons from Connecticut: Donald Thomas. Marcus Easley. But, now they are exhibiting bringing in 7 kids with raw New England backgrounds; and multiple kids are being touted as Scholarship athletes soon. That sets up another handful+ of new kids this year. Like Allmendinger.

Just reading my roster - Counselor

Tahj-Anthony Wilson

I guess you need to know which is the surname.

Forgot our Long Snapper guy - James Bedell

That makes 8 FR Walk Ons ... and who knows the "preferred status"

4's a majority, but it still sounds like a high number. Wonder how many of the possible scholarship recipients mentioned gray shirted versus just walked-on?

Here you are in the first week of November saying something (have to take Allmendinger literally) like that to a prospective new Preferred Walk-on. He has the opportunity to really really play top football with the big boys ... even though he doesn't have the 10 offers. And, maybe there are another 10 guys like him targeted. What a wonderful opportunity to place in front of him: "we are going to offer scholarships to a majority of our 7!"

That has to be attractive to a swath of kids that want to play top football but just have been too raw or not exposed enough.

If some gray shirts (current or prospective), you, or others are swayed or concerned by reasonable pondering, bigger issues may exist for someone else overreacting. Yup, the right to work for a scholarship is a great opportunity. Good for the guys who may earn a scholarship by season's end, during spring training, next season, etc.
