The 12 finalists are:

Elena Delle Donne, Skylar Diggins, Brittney Griner, Odyssey Sims, Shenice Johnson, Anna Martin, A'dia Mathies, Chiney and Nneka Ogwumike, Alyssa Thomas, Samantha Prahalis and Julie Wojta.

Anna Martin???? I've been very impressed with how much she's improved since her freshman year, but I'm really surprised to see her on this list.

BTW, Martin was held scoreless by UConn when the two teams met during the regular season, and in two games against ND Martin scored a combined 16 points on 6-28 shooting.

Prahalis? What a joke. They should be ashamed.

When was the last time that there were no UCONN or TENN players listed?

A long time, but we'll gladly let them walk off with all the hardware except for that one with NC on it.

The list is incomplete without Glory Johnson and Tiffany Hayes both on it.

When was the last time a team received a #1 seed and won their conference tournament without winning their conference regular season, but only lost to ONE team outside the Top 2 teams in the country without having an All-American/NPOTY finalist or NCOTY finalist.

UConn must have been handed their 31 victories on the season (including wins over 3 teams that are represented by 4 players and only 1 of whom has a UConn victory (2 wins actually) on her resume this season) by the refs!!!

That is the only way that it makes sense for the #3 team in the country loses once on the road to the #1 and undefeated team, twice (home and on the road) to the #2 team in the country and once at home on a game-winning shot from the Top 12 team in the country because they clearly must NOT have at least one college All-American on its roster NOR a Coach of the Year finalist.

Now does UConn have a Player of the Year....NO!

But they certainly have at minimum 1-2 candidates (my vote would still be for Hartley). And their record and STATS back that argument up!!

I'd take Tiffany over Martin, Mathies, Prahalis, and maybe Shenice Johnson.

Ms Prahalis is the Big Ten Player of the Year. That, alone, merits consideration despite any personal disdain one might have.
