W+M to Patriot Football

Villanova had a trustees meeting scheduled to sign off on a move to Big East football and play its games in Chester PA. Pitt was already a foot out the door and didn't want the conference to get any further stability for football, so they announced their move before the Villanova vote , which was then tabled.
I recall lack of room for a stadium was an issue. I wonder if they would've had room if they had already taken over Rosemont back then.

Please explain how a proposal to play home games in an 18,000 seat MLS stadium was a legitimate attempt at moving up to BCS level football.
I dont believe the MLS stadium even existed at that time.
