She’s only 14
May a boneyard "editor" can suggest the BONEYARD send Olivia Kristjana Vukosa
15th birthday greetings on the "BIG O"'s birthday = September 7, 2023. Remember,
she will "only" be 15 (and a cinch to play for the next Croatian U 16 team) !

I think you’re kidding but I’ll use this opportunity for my annual plea to Boneyarders: (not directed at you @Zarathustra )

Don’t try to recruit for UConn! UConn got into trouble with the NCAA because a well-meaning fan spoke to then-recruit Elena Delle Donne’s father and gave him a cardboard sign that said “Come to UConn, Elena!”

The NCAA slapped a violation on UConn after that meeting and the act inspired spiteful Tennessee fans to scour the Boneyard in search of other violations. This resulted in the infamous 42 pages of violations, which was primarily screen shots of Boneyarders posting which player or parent they’d ever spoken with. While the report was dismissed by the NCAA, it still cost UConn thousands of dollars in attorneys fees and got me called up to UConn for a chat.

Please, everyone, take a few minutes to read through the attached. Don’t try to parse the rules - remember, a violation is what the NCAA decides it is, not your interpretation of the rule

Final Stats for Oliva's 7 games: ppg 22.6 #1 of 184 players in tournament,
FG % 44.2 %, two point % 49.5 % , Free Throw % 75 %, Rebounds per game 17.1 # 1 in
the tournament, Blocks 1.9 per game, #5 Fouls ... 3.6 per game, tied for 5th highest, Minutes per
game 37.5 mpg # 3 ...( Olivia's two teammates were #1 and #2 in minutes played per game, a very
shallow bench), efficiency: 28.9 per game # 1 in
the entire U 16 FIBAA tournament field. There are two games for Sunday tomorrow, the Championship
Game and the contest for #3, but I don't see Ms. Vukosa's rankings changing. You can check
tomorrow evening at FIBA U 16 WOMEN'S EUROPEAN BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP, 2023, Turkey.

JUST IN... Olivia Vukosa was named one of the "TOP PERFORMERS"
of the day for Saturday, August 19, 2023. Her teammate Lena
Bilic # 9 also won one of the 5 "TOP PERFORMERS" award. The
"Big O" was also named the "GAME DAY MVP" ( for the contests
completed today. See the FIBA U16 Women's European Basketball
Championships, 2023, Turkey for more results. If you look under
Teams and Croatia and then ROSTER and click on #15 ,i.e. Olivia, you
should get a summary of all her stats for each game in the turnament.

The tournament is actually over with France defeating Spain for the championship. France's Ainhoa Risacher, whose brother is a predicted NBA lottery pick next year, won MVP with Vukosa being named to the All-Tournament team.

If you like video highlights, I just found a link to a nice video of
Olivia's game against Finland ( a loss by one point ). It shows
Olivia scoring with her left hand, with her right hand, making
a three, a number of blocked shots, and her scoring through
traffic and with contact. I saw the live game the FIBA broadcast
but this was a short highlight reel. I found it by Googling
Olivia Vukosa and the highlights were under the heading
OLIVIA VUKOSA / Croatia HR / full highlights... etc. It is
probably also found at Youtube / Fiba / the Basketball Channel.
Olivia is a very physical player. She will be a handful with
some additional polish and mentoring. Enjoy! It is new
apparently only posted about 9 -10 hours ago.
