Can I just show up for orientation, pick up a parking pass and leave?

Yes, but be sure to take the shirt. That way you can cover the $5 parking for orientation by selling the shirt on ebay.

Here's how low my self-esteem is:
I'm going to volunteer, for all five days. (Guess I'll have to tivo the games...)

You should change your handle to voluntario.

If you get a venue pass for the day, it might not be the worst deal. You could volunteer for an early four hour shift then head over to the bar area and watch the games from the bar for the rest of the day.

you bring up a good point - I was thinking in terms of volunteering for one shift then watching a game or two, but other than the bar area (which will probably be full) where the heck do you sit? There's no SRO areas in the XL that I know of. Wouldn't security move people along just standing around?

I'm guessing you could find some space in between a game. Just make sure you don't have to go to the bathroom. If you can afford tickets then buying is definitely the best way to go. But if you can't afford tickets it might be worth a shot to volunteer and see if you can get in the bar area.

There's not even a fanbase in this conference that I'd get my jollies giving the wrong directions to. Seems like they should have had this at MSG years ago - I could have really told Cuse fans where to go.

Dang!! That would be cool to volunteer for the AAC tournament. Heck if I lived in the area, I would jump at the chance.
